As some of you'll know ive been on finasteride now for four weeks.

I wasn't sure if i was paranoid or not because sometimes my hair can deceive depending on whether its dry, greasy, styled exactly.

But after a hair cut last weekend its become patently clear my hair has lost some depth. This really sucks because imo i was already at the periphery of having thin hair insofar as any thinner would scream balding whereas before i could style it and it would be less conspicious.

The past 3 odd weeks ive noticed my hair coming out easier. I mean, some people talk about clogged up showers - ive never had that but not i get more random hairs coming out than usual...

So....im finding this very frustrating and am in need of encouragement.

Does a shed mean im responding and will receive some results? I know everyone's different but the fact im being affected imply i'll respond? Because that's the only way this will be worth it

I really hope it doesn't get any worse i couldn't bear it worsening to a point people comment on it (behind my back!

P.s. Im a diffuse thinner so thinning further is like a serious kick in the teeth. Under strong light i can see paths all over my head. :(

Moral support required and quick!

You just got a haircut, no wonder you're seeing less hair ;).

But yeh man, it will return. The hair that is falling out right now would have fallen out soon anyways. It just happens faster and alltogether now, so it will have this visual effect.

Just thing about the visual effect it will have when all these lost hairs grow back and give you a much better look :). You probably knew from the beginning it was possible you'd get a shed, well you have it now. Sucks, but it will all get better ;).

Thanks mate :)

Right now i feel like my hair, inside a month, has progressed to what i extrapolated it'd be like in about a years time. That sucks, but at the same time i still think i look decent.

Having thin hair always makes it difficult to style but the past week ive noticed it notably harder and more subborn to style again which is a tough pill to swallow (pun intended)

Fingers crossed the shed doesn't worsen much more, anyone with first hand experience of what happened them??

Try not to worry. Hair doesn't just fall out...it miniaturizes. If they fell out then most likely it's a shed and they're bound to come back. Just hang in there and hopefully success will come your way. Good luck.

Wow, with that single line you convinced me about the fact I'm also in a nizoral shed, not that it's destroying my hairline permanently. :bravo:

I know how you feel Colin..
This week I've been using Propecia for a month and I am shedding much more hair than usual..=/
Specially in the front, I have a spot just above the hairline that is really thinning out! =(

My hair also falls out with its root, is this a positive sign? Im using nizoral shampoo as well (2%).

4 weeks is still too early to see any results. My advice: keep taking finasteride and don't think about it anymore, it would only make you anxious. Finasteride is the only thing that really works, so you're already doing everything that you possibly can to save your hair.

just keep your head up. things will come good. Ive been on fincar 2 months now and my hairloss has totally stopped. and i mean totally. I can put my head over the sink and put my hands through my hair for a minute and i only get couple of hairs...and the hairs are smallr and lighter than my actual hair so obviosuly they just going to be replaced by better ones. I cant believe how good finasteride is. i have conidence im going ot get back to how my hair was at 18

so far ive had absolutely no sides

you said youve had pretty much no sides so far either; well....lets hope for both of us it stays that way. I've read about people no getting sides until the 6th month mark or later so it can be a cumulative/progressive thing. Im afriad of that - having great results and then being forced to give it up. Wow that would suck but you cant risk your health either..

anyway, im getting realy confident about the finasteride. Im still shedding but my hair is ok. The fact im shedding is an indicator that something's happening for the better in the long run.
