Please advise - my background

Hello HairLossTalk.com, long time reader here. Need some advice.

I've been on Propecia for about 5 years for maintenance and I believe it has served me well in my opinion. However, the left side of my hairline has thinned somewhat in the last 10 months or so. Regardless, I've been thinking of adding a "growth stimulant" for a while now. I also use Nizoral 1% 3 times a week.

I am a norwood 2ish but have thin-type hair all over. I've always had the loose, thinner type of hair. The density has been reduced obviously and it's harder to style.

My main objective:

1. Improve quality of hair overall

2. Stimulate some new regrowth

3. Re-thicken or at least improve left side of hairline

After doing some research I feel that Tricomin sounds like a good choice for me. I don't want to start Rogaine Foam yet.

What do you guys think? I'll post this in the growth stimulants section too.

Thank you much

IMO, if what you are looking for is regrowth, Tricomin wont cut it. The avaliable commercial solution just doesnt seem to carry the neccesary punch for it. It seems to be good for scalp health but is nowhere near in the same league as minoxidil as a growth stimulant.

It would be great to have the Tricomin version they tested in the FDA trials but we dont.

Minoxidil has its negatives but its still the most effective tested true and tried option if you are looking for REGROWTH.

You could still use Tricomin and or better yet Folligen spray in your regimen. Everything helps a bit.

I`ve found Dr. Proctors Nano shampoo helpful as well. Growth stimulant in shampoo form.

Thanks for the response Patagonia.

So, you don't trust Tricomin? It got a 5 star rating here and was described as a "natural alternative to rogaine" which is why it appeals to me.

Rogaine seems like the best bet, but it's a life-long commitment and I don't want to jump on it just yet. I'd like to buy more time.

What about Folligen? Have many folks had solid results?

I'll begin researching Nano Shampoo. Let me know of any good link you have please. If I use Nizoral 3x a week, would Nano be good to use 2-3x a week as well?

Anyone know anything abotu Emu Oil? Legit or not?

Getting on a low maintenance "growth stimualtor" seems like a great option for me. It's about time I added a bigger regrowth component to my regimen.

Thanks!

Im in a similar situation...Ive been puting minoxidil off for a while now and will do for as long as I can, but eventually my time will come. If you feel ok for now then no need to jump on minoxidil and maybe just adding a few things to your regimen will work for you...options: copper peptides, shampoos, spironolactone cream, prox-n, essential oils.

Ive been using tricomin and folligen spray both since starting treatments more than a year ago.... both are good but my vote is with Folligen. nano shampoo is very good IMO... been using it since and plan to continue with it. Both Tric and folligen where developed by the same Dr. (Pichart)

google Dr. peter proctor - Nano and read his posts here - pproctor... he knows a thing or two.
you could also take a look at Prox-n (without minoxidil)

emu oil is great to apply on trouble areas after youve applied the copper peptides... will push anything down the dermis... read the BU study on emu oil -hairgrowth.... do a search here. one of the best antiinflamtories as well.

shampoos are great IMO.... one has to do it anyway and they are great vehicles for active ingredients..... essential oils, Tee Tree Oil, curcumin....

I use:
Nizoral (keto) 3x week

nano 3 or 4x week or more if u want...

Piroctone Olamine shampoo 4x week ( antiandrogenic, antiflamatory, stimulates growth...in some of this it did better than keto)

coal tar shampoo 1x week

I use these shampoos as many times a week as I want... I just mix 2 different ones in my hand and use them at the same time. Sometimes i put a few drops of emu oil in the mix to eliminate the drying effect and moisture the scalp.

use the search function here and look up the keto, PO shampoos study... very interesting.

read up on what the veterans in the know use... they have read everything out there concerning Androgenetic Alopecia and tried allot of stuff... itll give u a good idea of what works and what doesnt...

Awesome info Patagonia, thanks.

I'm thinking of adding Tricomin and Nano Shampoo to my existing regimen (Propecia 1 mg/daily, Nizoral 3x week, B-Complex daily).

Can you tell me why Folligen is better in your opinion? Does anyone else back this up?

Thanks guys

Tricomin and Folligen both have its fans... you dont need to
get all "Sophies choice" on this.. just use both in your regimen. You can rotate one day Tric and the other Folligen spray. You will be using different copper peptides which is good IMO. Folligen spray is inexpensive, the bottle is big and will last you a long time. I buy both from "folica (dot) com"

Folligen is much much more concentrated and you will really feel it, especially on a hydrated scalp.

Dr. Proctors Nano shampoo is a great addition as well.... try to leave it as long as you can on the scalp before rinsing.. ( I leave it on about 10 minutes aprox)

I'm ready to purchase Nano Shampoo and I will try Folligen for now.

Any suggestions on where to purchase these products from?

I see Folligen creams and things like that. That's not what you use, is it?

I assume you use the Folligen spray?

Thanks

I mention in my post above where I purchase my tricomin and folligen... good prices and fast shipping. Amazon has some good deals as well.

I use Folligen spray... ( the one i get from folica is deep blue and _does _NOT_ stain or smell.)

The cream and lotion might be a bit more concentrated and penetrate better than the spray (Im guessing).... allot of people use them for the hairline and temples. I am going to get the lotion next time I order.

Hi Tee,

I was just wondering what the b-complex is supposed to do. Also how old are you?

Abovedagame,

I'm 25.5 years of age.

B-Complex is supposed to be healthy for your hair according to some research I've done online. Possibly helps the hair grow faster and thicker? Not sure.

I take Liquid B-Complex once every night.

Just an update:

I've ordered Folligen Spray and Dr. Proctors Nano Shampoo.

These will be added to my current regimen of Propecia, Nizoral, B-Complex, and a Hair Vitamin.

I'll use Folligen once a day and the Nano 3x a week.

I'm also thinking about emu oil and maybe adding another supplement to my regimen. Possibly Nettle? Just a few times a week.

I'll keep you guys apprised of my results.
