Pigmentation and Texture

I'm a long time lurker out here and have learned a lot from you guys over the past 7-8 months.

I'm a diffuse thinner, weak vertex and high forehead/temples, thin front. I've got some thicker patches on top interspered with thinner patches. 36 years old. Been thinning slowly over the past 7-8 years, but saw rapid loss and greying about 3 years ago.

My regimen, 7 and a half months:
5% minoxidil twice a day
Am Crew Copper Peptide Shampoo and Spray daily
nizoral 1% 2-3 times a week
Multivitamin
MSM 3000-4000mg daily-Just started

I've seen regrowth of many vellus hairs. Many of these have grown quite long. They have, however, no pigmentation. These hairs are visible and actually there are a lot of them all over the top of my head, but overall, I have not seen great cosmetically noticeable regrowth.

Will these hairs ever gain pigmentation? I have many more smaller, shorter, vellus hairs and wonder if these will grow in length and pigmentation.

Another thing I have noticed is that while my hair definately looks better and healthier since I have started using better shampoos, condition occasionaly, and the peptides, I have noticed a a sort of synthetic "feel" to my hair. I t feels as if my hair is coated in plastic or something. Difficult to describe, but has anyone else experienced a change in texture of the hair?

if you had also been taking finasteride for those 7 months, you'd have results. Get on it!

Thanks for the helpful response man...

I think I have had results. I do have more hair than when I started and my hair looks better. But I'd still like to know more about pigmentation. A lot of the new hair is pretty long...

I'm not gonna go on finasteride now for a number of reasons. I'm giving my regimen at least a full year before reconsidering finasteride. Not sure it's worth it anyway. I'm 36. If I can maintain what I have for another 10 years I'd be pretty content. But I'd like to see the vellus I have grow longer, faster and gain pigmentation.

What do you guys know about greying and pigmentation in general? And that sort of synthetic feeling in the hair? Anyone experience changes in hair texture?

to be frank, your lack of pigmentation is due to the DHT still KILLING your follicles.

I was on minoxidil for about a year before starting finasteride, and the change was DRAMATIC once I got on finasteride.

You can water the beautiful plants all day long, but if the soil is shitty, the plants are still struggling.

That is what you are doing with minoxidil right now. Forget the other stuff. Take 1mg of finasteride a day (I would suggest generic), and minoxidil once or twice a day, and use head and shoulders or nizoral every other day or so.

You will see a dramatic change most likely, within three months. The two have not been studied together, but I can attest, as can many others, that once you use them in conjunction, things "take off"

They work differently and yet, support each other. Try them both and sit back and watch the growth.

I agree...
