Hello to all:

This is my first post, and may I say that this is one informative site, I am very impressed and feel fortunate. I am 22, and has been loosing hair for the last year, my frontal hair line has relatively receded ( noticeable, but not serious).

I am trying out the a intensive care kit by Phyto, called "Thinning hair" under the recommandation from a family friend. Apparently is suppose to have excellent results. After some research on the web, I am in need for some answer to a couple of questions:

1) On the list of ingriedents, it doesn't not have any of the chemicals mentioned on the site, but instead it is serveral patented ingredients like "Phytoactive concentrate" and a whole lot of herbal extracts. To compare, the instruction describe the effect as "stimulate hair growth and boost production of keratin". I am wondering if these are legit or bs?

2) For someone who has used these products before, what are your opinions? Are they worth their price?

3)I am considering taking some form of DHT blocker like propecia and minoxidil. However, what would happen if shall I say I stop taking it 6 years later, will that cost me more harms then good? I am worrying that when I stop taking it AFTER my body has adjust to it, my DHT level might spike, and cost me more harm then if I never start taking it.

Thank you all in advance

Most likely BS. Every snake oil on the planet has one thing in common. They pack their junk full of herbal crap that nobody's ever heard of, and has zero backing to it, and then they toss in a growth stimulant. Either Rogaine, or something less successful, like Niacin (Nioxin does this for example). The idea is short term hair growth stimulation and long term avoidance of money back guarantee. You grow hair for just long enough to get out of their money back guarantee timeframe and then it all goes to crap.

Many things will grow hair in the short term. Many things can stimulate new growth over a period of 2-4 months. This is how snake oils stay in business. Very few things work for 1 year... 2 years.... 5 years... 7 years.

This is what separates the clinically tested products from the others. The FDA wont even look twice if it only works for 6 months. It must work for a minimum of 1 year and be proven to do so in hundreds of people. Otherwise, its quite simply illegal to make the claim that it will grow hair. There's a reason for such a stringent law on what terminology is allowed... and its because the science isn't there to prove it works.

Most likely not. Definitely not as a stand-alone treatment. All hair loss treatment regimen's must be based on a foundation of clinically proven products like Propecia or Rogaine. As sick as we are of having to say that, its the truth :) If you were to consider adding this phyto stuff as an adjunct to them, this would be a decision you would have to make on your own. Just be aware that the clinical data is lacking and you have zero guarantee's.

Hair loss treatment is a permanent regimen. It's not something that can be started and stopped at a later date. Any products out there that make this claim are pretty much lying. You would need to continue the Propecia and Rogaine (propecia is all that is needed if you just want to stop further loss)... indefinitely. You will lose all gains if you discontinue. That in mind, whether you have a DHT spike at that time wouldn't really be an issue. Stopping isn't an option.

Lets look at this "cup half full" though... sure you dont want to use something for the rest of your life ...

But you brush your teeth every day for the rest of your life to avoid Tooth Decay. You wash your body every single day to avoid skin conditions and infections. You take vitamins every day to help keep your body from falling apart internally. You exercise weekly to avoid muscle atrophy. You will do all these things for the rest of your life. Treating hair loss is the same. You must keep at it to see results... and it takes many months to years.

Email that company and tell them you want clinical data showing that their product works. Make sure you ask them for the Journal References in journals such as the American Academy of Dermatology. There's nearly a 100% chance they wont have that, and thats the *bare minimum* required for a legit treatment. Otherwise you're risking your money and hair. This is, however, your choice!

Good Luck and welcome to our forums

Ooooh. Big words. That must mean it works!

Phyto means plant.

Plant means herb.

Herb means herbal.

Herbal means it doesn't work.

and you most likely wont be using propecia and minoxidil for the rest of your life.....most use it in anticipation of the next big product, nothing has come along since propecia but eventually something will, something to make your life easier and throw a couple of dollars in whoevers pocket....
