Hey guys,
I'm asking for your help. I just can't get to sleep like I used to.

It must be anxiety, but I think about EVERYTHING before I go to sleep.

It's especially bad when I have my girlfriend sleep over... I just can't seem to sleep in the same bed... When I hear someone else snoozing close to me, I just can't fall to sleep. I feel like I need to be sedated before I go to sleep next to someone.

I exercise almost every day or every other day now, eat about 2 meals a day, and drink occassionally.

What do you guys do to help get better sleep?

Also, when I finally DO fall asleep, I have great difficulty rising the next morning.

Solo,
is there anything that helps you?

Sometimes, if I'm desperate, I'll take a few shots of whiskey...

I also have this natural pill called Melatonin, but it doesn't help me much at all.

No. I haven´t tried much techniques, because I haven´t needed to, I´ve never had yet to stick to a rigid schedule, but soon I´m starting to work and I´ll have to improve this crappy sleep habit. And lately I´m sleeping better.

What I do (when I need to wake up early for a period of time) is to wake up no matter how tired and wasted I am, and then, in the night I´m so tired that I sleep sooner. I also practice sport, so being phisically tired also helps.

If I sleep in normal hours, I rest much better, but if I sleep later, as I used to, no matter how many hours I always wake up being a living sh*t.

And yeah, beer helps me sometimes, but I wake up in worse shape.

I´ve read that the best metod is to stick sleeping in the same hours, whatever you do, always sleep at 12pm and wake at 7AM. After a period of adjustment you´ll get used to it.

Curiously enough, my mother has the same problem as me, she always go to bed late, and wakes at 10PM+, and she´s like 48y old!!

Personally, I think pills are not a good help for this. People who has used them says that you wake up as sh*t, and that you develop tolerance to the drug.

By now I´m not much worried about this, because I sleep a bit better since I quit drugs 2y ago, including alcohol (though I still smoke, damn!!), and I have been doing a lot of mountain bike and after a good ride I sleep as a child!!.

So, resuming, I think sport practice, no drugs and a solid schedule can do the trick. At least for me.

My mum has a card she gives to her patients who have trouble sleeping (she's a doctor). It's entitled "Tips for a better night of sleep" and i'll type it out.

"Tips For A Better Night of Sleep

Sleep in a comfortable, calm, quiet and relaxing place

Establish a bed-time routine, go to bed when you feel tired and get up at the same time every day - rather than sleep in to make up for insomnia

Don't drink alcohol within three hours before bedtime, as it may make you wake up again later in the night

Limit your caffeine intake

Avoid other stimulants such as tobacco before going to bed

Exercise during the day, but don't exercise within three to four hours of bedtime as it may hype you up and make it hard to go to sleep

Avoid salty foods and large meals which can keep you awake

Use your bed for sleeping, and not for reading, watching TV or eating

If you are awake after 25 minutes in bed, get up and read or do something that's non-stimulating (but not watching TV), and then go back to bed when you feel less tense.

Hide your clock if you are having trouble sleeping.

Please see your doctor for more information"

Hope this helps :)

Temazepam is a good option for getting to sleep. Ask your doctor to prescribe it or else order it from the web.

referring to the above poster, drugs such as temazapam and diazepam should only be used to kickstart your sleep cycle. they are very addictive drugs.

anyway. these tips will help you get better sleep. I am a chronic insomniac who has been bettered by none. have stayed awake for over 5 days in a row with hallucinations kicking in etc. (no drugs involved). following these tips has helped me regain the day so to speak, ie/ i wake up before midday now.

- get a reasonable amount of sunlight before 11am
- exercise in the morning.
- stick to a reasonable schedule which will allow normal patterns.
- eliminating coffe/tea and high GI foods, or at least never eat them late in the day
- the only thing your bed should be used for is sex or sleep. no reading, no tv, nothing but sex and sleep
- don't roll around in bed if you cant sleep, get up and do someting for a little while and try again.

I have very good news for all of you. I dealt with sleep problems for almost the last five years until I discovered ZMA. This nice supplement is just a combo of Zinc, Magnesium and B6 vitamin. Well guys I can't tell you how good is the sleep that I get from it.
You just have to take one serving before bedtime on an empty stomach. The best thing is that I feel very restful when I wake up even I don´t have the time to sleep many hours. No significant sides at all (just zits for some teens). In addition to a deeper sleep the stuff gives me really wild dreams.
From my experience in bodybuilding forums is effective in many cases although not in all of them. I hope it works for you as well as it did for me. Silly as it may sound ZMA changed my live.
Regards.

I do zinc and b6 supplemts, but in the morning. Yes, since I´ve tried them I had more dreams, and more vivid and intense ones, it´s curious.

Maybe I´m going to try swapping the intake to nights

This weekend I stayed over at my brother's house. When sleeping, he told me I woke up every 10 minutes during the night.

I've recently found out that I have sleep apnea.

I'm going to visit a doctor to see what I have to do about this.

Any suggestions, guys?

ZMA is not addictive at all. It's just zinc and magnesium.
Give it a try. You can buy it from many sources at very cheap prices. I personally buy mine from bodybuilding.com but it´s easy to find stuff in any fitness store.

I've suffered the same problem and all the following worked well for me.

Temazepam
Xanax
Tramadol
Phenibut
GHB
Codeine

Any one of those should do the trick.

I also have trouble falling asleep sometimes. I've found that the OTC pills "Simply Sleep" really do a decent job. It's essentially just the sleeping component of Tylenol PM.

Talk to your Dr. about Ambien. It's unbelievably effective. Every muscle in your body will relax and you'll be out within half an hour max. This is not something you want to take if it's 3am and you have to wake up at 6am. You won't.

Guys..These are great solutions....but all this stuff is addictive...after some time your body will not just sleep without it, which I think is not good.

But you know what...if I continue to sleep like I am sleeping right now I may soon get on one of these
