Hello,

at first I would like to say hello - it's my first post and topic on this forum I am from Poland, and I have created my profile, because my question is pretty complicated, and I feel this is the best place for this kind of problems;)

To the point - I am struggling with receding hairlines and generally balding (thin hairs) - I have tried minoxidil, but side effects were too big.

I was reading about peppermint oil - there are same evidences that it could help with my problem.

But I have also found some evidence, that peppermint can lead to the Testosterone drop. Of course I don't want it. Better to be bald

To recap the studies

  1. There are evidence on hair growth stimulating properties of peppermint oil

  2. There are evidence on Testosterone drop while drinking peppermint Tea.

Main question:
Can peppermint oil negatively affect testosterone if it is applied externally - on the skin? Research shows negative impact of peppermint Tea - but obviously it's "internal" usage. Can this be somehow translated into an external application?

In other words: is there a chance that peppermint oil may decrease testosterone when applied on the scalp? Or maybe study on drinking peppermint is completely irrelevant to the topical application of peppermint oil.

apologize for my far from perfect english and I would appreciate every comment in this regard.

Oh, and my current routine : derma roller + peppermint oil (diluted in olive oil)

I will save you a lot of time and tell you that peppermint oil will not grow or probably even slow your hairloss. Your choice is an anti androgen or you accept it.

peppermint oil has nothing to do with androgens. it acts like minoxidil by increasing blood flow. many people mix it will jojoba/coconut oil and apply, it works a lot for Telogen Effluvium/etc
