Yep, that describes my scalp too.

No real suggestions, though I am going to try t-gel/t-sal or whatever and see if that alleviates some of the pain.

Shampoo with menthol really helps keep the irritation down for a couple of hours. Nioxin is loaded with menthol for the male pattern baldness itch... and it'll thicken your hair up.

Uhhm... There's a couple of products you can use. They sell "Scalpicin" in the grocery store that helps to stop the itching on your head. It uses Salicylic Acid, which is an acne treatment. Nonetheless, it'll help irritation.

Tricomin helps me keep my itch down...

As far as the itchiness, I think the dutasteride is definitely starting to work on my scalp. No itching, not even with the Rogaine or anything. Inflammation is very down now.

I"m glad it works, but where do people get the impression that a particular shampoo controls how much hair falls out? Hair in the telogen phase is going to fall out regardless.

my advice- wash your hair.
i doubt you even lather your scalp and scrub it out of fear of losing hair. its probably gross and dirty and filled with dead skin.
This does not mean putting a little shampoo on the ends on your hair and thinking that its washed. your scalp is what needs to be scrubbed and exfoliated.
WASH it.

I can't speak for Jeffsss, but that isn't the case for me. I scrub the hell out of my hair (especially when using nizoral) but it hasn't cut down on the pain whatsoever.

What has cut down on the pain dramatically for me is not being so stressed out.
