p**rn-INDUCED ED? How to differentiate with finasteride sides?

A relatively new phenomenon people are talking about online is p**rn-induced Erectile dysfunction or PIED. There is more information on that website, but the basic premise is over-usage of p**rn has conditioned many men (particularly younger guys who grew up with the internet) in such a way that various forms of ED occur. The treatment as stated on various websites (all anecdotally) is to just completely stop watching p**rn, and masturbating (until recovered).

I initially didn't want to even worry about something like this that has not been scientifically proven, lacks studies, etc. But, I couldn't help noticing that a lot of odd erectile dysfunction-like symptoms I was having were very similar to the experiences of the reports of PIED.

*NOTE: I have yet to take finasteride, I have been observing my "normal" sexual characteristics to have a better comparison when on the drug, to differentiate any side effects.

It was during these observations that I became worried that I may be suffering from this PIED phenomenon, I have become even more worried to start finasteride, as I might not be able to tell the difference between what may be causing any sort of sides.

Symptoms: Lose erection quickly without stimulation, hard to keep erection while standing, most comfortable position is sitting down or lying down, very rare to have random boners. (Still have morning wood so probably not biological, and I'm only 22)

Here's my main concern: The recovery period from PIED is estimated to be around 2-6 months or possibly longer. Would it then be wise, to wait out this period, and once my PIED is gone, take finasteride? If I go this route, my hair loss will undoubtedly continue to worsen, but it may be worth it if I can go through treatment of finasteride without worries about anything else causing any sexual sides.

Something worth noting: I am not ashamed to admit, I am still a virgin and I have never had any sexual interactions so I don't really know how I would do in a real life situation. Most guys that talk about PIED take notice because they are fine when masturbating to p**rn but get ED when with a real girl. This is something I can not know at the moment.

*What does everyone think about this idea of PIED? Is it baloney? Are these problems fairly normal? Should I take finasteride anyway? Would love to hear some opinions.

I gotta say, PIED sounds like PC baloney to me. The whole world, and I do mean the whole world, has been watching p**rn online forever. If PIED was the real deal we would have heard about it sooner.

They've been watching p**rn...online...forever?...
Had no idea cavemen had the internet, when they were feeling horny they didn't open the hub, they went and ****ed. Also the "whole world" doesn't have access to the internet and the internet is a very new thing, no single generation has used the internet as much as the current one <25, who at a guess I would say are the same people suffering this. What's PC about it anyway? I don't see the concept of p**rn induced erectile dysfunction being pushed in our media, our schools, our workplaces.

PIED is a real thing for men who dont have sexual experience with women aside from p**rn for release.

the effects aren't so immediate but do happen over time.

it's real, don't let fools persuade you otherwise. Albeit men in relationships who use p**rn aren't as effected.

p**rn ****s with your dopamine. Most p**rn addicts aren't actually horny through real libido rather chasing a dopamine high.

shookwun, have you personally suffered from PIED, if so, how did it affect your choice in taking finasteride/dutasteride. Or what do you recommend for me? Should I try getting rid of PMO and see if I get a lot better and afterwards take finasteride OR should I take finasteride now and try PMO simulatenously (i fear the flatline or other withdrawal symptoms could cause me to think finasteride caused it).

I am also worried that I will not be able to monitor for any finasteride-related side effects unless I am keeping to my usual p**rn-masturbation routine

Thanks alot

PIED is real. I'm on NoFap and I've experienced it. If you do NoFap and stay on finasteride, you should be fine. NoFap can restore sensitivity by increasing test. The testosterone lost from finasteride can be replaced by the test you gain from not fapping.

Is this really even a problem? I mean stop watching p**rn - poof your cured. Too bad male pattern baldness isnt that easy to solve id be a millionaire. Yeah just like anything some men take it to extremes and probably have trouble with difference between p**rn and real life. Its all mental though and its going to go back to normal if you just get outside verses living in pretend p**rn land all the time.
