Hi,
If you ahve read the shedding forum you will have seen that I'm not able to continue on finasteride due to adverse reactions so I wondered what people thought were my options now?

Which is the best topical dht inhibitor to use etc?

many thanks

Sprio creme yeah, but I doubt how much it will do for you on it's own, if you're gonna use spironolactone cream with no finasteride, then add minoxidil definatly.

Yes, minoxidil and spironolactone should be your way to go. Also add Nizoral and there you go. The minoxidil and spironolactone combo is very popular in German hair loss forums since many people over there are among the "two percents" with finasteride side effects.

Thanks guys, does spironolactone come in a topical lotion as well as the cream and is it possible to apply minoxidil and spironolactone at the same time?

Yeah, it is. They react together, but it takes a long time for the reaction to happen, so they can be applied at the same time as absorption will take place long before reaction. However, you shouldn't keep them in the same solution container. Then they will react and smell like crap. Just apply each seperately at the same time. Dr. Lee has a whole interview about topical spironolactone on the product review section of this site.

so is spironolactone creme applied over the entire scalp then?
Would it not be easier with a lotion?

It's hard to put it in a solution. Many crush spironolactone tablets and make their own lotion. Most premade topical spironolactone on the internet is in the form of an ointment/lotion. As to applying to the entire scalp - I'd probably apply it to the areas effected worst and give the rest a lighter application so that styling doesn't get too difficult. Most topical drugs diffuse pretty well, but their main efficacy is in the area of direct application.

Perhaps Eucapil Fluridil, a topical with some good press.

Interesting man thanks.

two questions:
1) does it induce shedding
2) has anyone had any success on it?

and er....

3) where do I get it from?!

spironolactone or Eucapil?

I don't know about Eucapil in terms of shedding.

The mechanism by which spironolactone works is much like finasteride's, yet it is from topical application. Since finasteride supposedly causes no initial shed, neither should spironolactone. DHT inhibition takes time to show results (as any hair loss treatment) because the manifestations of your scalp right now are really indicative of its condition 2-3 months ago.

Check out Dr. Lee for his spironolactone cocktails. Also, I have come across many personal recipes on these boards. You can probably also find some study results, etc. I think 200 dollars is a good estimate of yearly cost. It is, after all, a fairly rare product, and any rare product demands a high cost to warrant its production.

Good luck. Browse the forums for success stories on this. Most are from the big three. But most are using the big three.

I haven't noticed shedding on the "big three" plus Eucapil etc, because I started from zero hair on top.
1. "success" of one item in a multiple regimen is not proveable, but in my subjective opinion, it must be helping, because I haven't heard of anyone else succeeding on just the big three, from zero hair.
3. Do a search for Eucapil Fluridil, two companies supply it, Menspharma and another I forget, but they are much the same on price, except when there is a special offer.
I have managed to use one third of a phial each evening, but as my hair gets a bit thicker, I may have to use one half.
