I began posting in the hairlosstalk and hairlosshelp forums back in 2007 as “Dogs3” when I first started noticing hairloss at 22. I was a regular poster and some of the very old members here might remember me. These forums really helped me wade through the BS posted all over the internet and I ultimate settled on .5 mg of avodart daily which saved my hair and actually regrew hair at the temples and hairline. In 2012 I got a hair transplant and since then I’ve been carefree about my hair. I posted a bit more in 2013 and 14 then just kind of stopped because my problem was solved, ultimately losing my passwords in my old defunct .edu email.

Today I randomly looked up the two hairloss forums, and my how they have changed. HairLossTalk.com has taken off, and I’m not surprised. They were always trying to stay up to date. They are mobile phone friendly, they keep their site updated and fresh. Very good quality. Back in the day I spent most of my time on HLH because the open topic forum was a beehive and the forum was more of a community. I still recall regular members like Bryan fondly and it was a sad day when we learned of his passing. The front page was regularly filled with posts and topics from the very same day. I looked today and the front page has posts from like November of 18. The website quality is exactly the same. I wonder wth happened over there? Did all the old members just join HairLossTalk.com?

Anyway, it’s good to see at least one of the two forums made it throughout the years. I don’t even think I need to ask if there have been any breakthroughs. The old “in another five years” response was typical in 2007 and I’m sure is typical now. Hope everyone is doing well.

Do you have a picture of how your hair looked before dutasteride and how it looks now?

This is post dutasteride. Sorry I can’t find any predut hairline images because my receding hairline was only bad for about a year from 2006-2007 and I wore my hair long to cover it up. I’ll look again through old photos though and see. But if you look at this pic as a reference, in 2007 my temples were receded so badly I could never pull off slicking it back. Also every single one of my male family members was bald by 30. dutasteride helped a ton

I should also add that although I have had no sides I decided to switch to finasteride about three months ago because I am planning to start a family. Although I have not encountered any evidence that dutasteride can cause birth defects, I want to take zero risks. It’s my future child after all. And now a days my hair isn’t as important to me anymore, as it was in my twenties
