OK, Without Propecia Lets Decide on an Equivalent Finally

I am getting a little tired of people "worried" about spironolactone/revivogen/Azelaic acid not being a replacement for Propecia. The science behind them suggests that the aforementioned combination is as effective at preventing DHT from binding to the follicle as propecia, perhaps even more so. That is to say, the combo allows for inhibition of DHT (blocks the 5-alpha reductase enzyme) and competes for position on receptor sites for DHT on the hair follicle.

Coupled with minoxidil, I have settled on Sprio, Azelaic Acid, Retin-A, Copper Peptides and Nizoral.

I quite propecia because I felt that I had brain fog from it. Further, I feel DHT has a purpose in the body. To be sure, a basic reading of a biochemistry textbook supports this. One is its function in tissue regulation.

Many people have had good results with propecia, but some bad too. Appears spironolactone users are in the same position. Because of my thinning hairline, I feel that my treatment is as good as one with propecia and minoxidil. I assert that if this doesn't work, not much else will, including adding propecia.

The only question is how credible is the research on spironolactone and Azelaic acid? If it is, then we can all assume that such a combo is as effective as propecia and end the debate.

As for spironolactone, from what I know, there have been a few studies that include one good one. spironolactone is an effective androgen competitor in the follicle, but the study implied perfect patient compliance to the regimen which is a LOT harder to do in a real world context (another topical to fit in) than is Propecia (just a matter of popping a pill).

As for Azelaic Acid, I believe its one of those things that make sense on paper, but have yet to see any real life clinical data on its usage.

There is no "equivilant" to Propecia. The only thing that comes close would be Revivogen based on the success stories Ive read in here. HairLossTalk.com swears by it.

Well, I think there is an equivalent to propecia. However, for diffuse thinners, propecia might be a better option, since applying topicals in such cases can be difficult. But for a thinning hairline, topicals are great for me.

As for saw palmetto, I use American Crew peptide spray which has Saw Palmetto in it along with copper peptides. Dr. Lee's site says with minoxidil and spironolactone together, there exists about a 75-80% rate of positives. Bryan has posted about the science behind Revivogen and Spironolactone together in a positive light as well.
