Hello All.
On my last post I said my Derm. told me all my levels were fine, I brought those same results to a Endo. doctor today and she that is not true. My TSH 3rd gen. is 0.44 ( range- 0.40-4.50) although that is still in the good range she says it's way to close to the bottom and will do further testing because there may be a problem.
So the jury is still out on that one but according to her my total testosterone is definitely down. She said a healthy 43 year old male (me) should have a level above 400, I'm 341. She would like to do further testing on that too before she treats it. I have a small understanding of whats going on thanks to goggle but if anyone could please explain to a novice (me,again) whats happening with me and what the road ahead may be like that would be great. Thank you.

PS On my previous post I stated that using minoxidil the 2nd time caused my shedding, And I still, without a doubt beleive that. I never lost hair the way I did just after 2 weeks of starting it again. I know it works for alot of people here and I am glad that it does but for me I wish I never heard of it.

Looks like hypogonadism.

You must ask her to check to make sure if its Primary or Secondary hypogonadism and try to get treatment accordingly. You need to have way more tests done.

I.E Prolactin, Estradiol, LH

Hypogonadism, OK Barcafan thanks alot. My Endo doesn't want to say until the results get back but I'm dying to know so every little bit helps. Took the 2nd test today and you're right they tested for way more this time but Estradiol wasn't one of them. Oh well, but thanks again.

Your T level sounds terrible, I'm several years older and mine is almost twice what yours is at 640. I would
check into that to see if T could be supplemented. There have been a few studies that tied
low T to earlier death from any number of problems.

Terrible? I did not know that. I thought is was only on the low side, Thanks for the update Casperz.
What I really would like to know is does low T cause hair loss and is it permanent? From what I have learned is that it may cause hair loss but doesn't seem to be one of the major symptoms, and I saw nothing about whether or not it comes back. I did however learn that the treatment may cause hair loss.
Am i screwed either way? Anyone?

Low t should reduce your risk of male pattern baldness.

Yes, if your level is well below the minimum then that's very bad. Remember, the Minimum is an average of ALL people (including 80 year olds and sick people). So if your level is 400, you're not 'okay' provided you're relatively young.

When did you take the test? You should take it first thing in the morning.

Just got the call from the Endo, Says my T level is definitely on the low side and my thyroid is a little hyper, thats it. I asked her if this would cause irreversible hair loss and she said she wasn't sure.
She told me not to smoke weed for 2 weeks and take another test becuse it might be "skewering"some results. Then we will look into treatment. I understand now thanks to Barcafan (thanks for the post too Casperz) that low T could have helped me not to lose hair. I also know that a hyper thyroid can acclerate DHT's effect on people but a Derm. told me I don't have male pattern baldness.Yes it's in my family but not in a big way. Knowing all that am I just kidding myself to think I will grow my hair back? Although I am healthy In the past few months I have been showing other symptoms that aren't so great but right now I honesty do not care.I don't even bring it up here so I don't ask too many questions. I just don't want to lose anymore hair or maybe even have it come back naturally, or am i kidding myself?

Well i said reduce because T gets converted into DHT and if you have low T then there's less to be converted.

But all of that is null if your hair is extremely sensitive to androgens.
