Hi!
New to forum, 27 yo male here who has been losing hair more or less last 9 years and it seems progressive and lately it seems to have been speeding up. Few years ago when it started to bother me more I researched a little bit about different medications, but decided against anything because did not want to mess up my hormones or take a chance to have side effects.
Now last year it's been bothering me more and more and now I decided that it's not going to get any better so why not get hair transplant and stop worrying about it.
But, my chosen doctor (one of the best ones in Thailand) told me that he don't recommend me to do transplant surgery if I'm not going to start medication (finasteride). And that is because he says my hair is thinning everywhere and even in donor area back of my head is thinning. Now atm I have lost hair mostly from temples and a bit from front, but not yet from vertex - so I guess that is stage III or IV right?
And he says that if I don't start medication now, I'm just going to lose more hair and then transplant will look funny and weird. I understood the reasoning, but first thought and question was that why I can't just make new transplant then? He say that maybe can, but my donor area is already so thin. Is there any other ways then?
Anyway my main questions in this situation are:
1. If you put aside your personal experiences and opinions about finasteride and accept that I don't want it - What you think I should do in this situation?
2. If you don't put aside your personal experiences or opinions about finasteride - Please either convince me to go trough operation and start medication or convince me to stay away from that!
Thank you for anyone who cares to answer
