Hi, I’m 17 and am really depressed and bothered by my hairline. I spend the majority of every day worrying about it, and only because I have noticed that it has receded over the past few years. I never had any receding in the temple areas until now, and my widows peak is more prevalent now. I’m not sure if my hairline is just maturing, or if I’m seeing early stages of balding. I know a hairline is supposed to mature between 17-22 so having it look like it’s finished maturing at 17 is very concerning. If I am experiencing balding, should I start working towards slowing it down/reversing it? Or is all of this just paranoia and I just have a big forehead?

Looks like it could be receding if it’s like that at 17 but if your concerned confirm with a derm

Ouch, also might be noteworthy but I haven’t noticed any hair loss whatsoever in terms of hair falling out.
If your scared of sides you could try minoxidil with derma roll and also zix. I’m probably starting that soon. It can’t make it worse. If you want to try finasteride maybe try topical first but it’s up to you. I’d see a derm first. In terms of your hair, I doubt that’s mature and it will probably continue but who knows how fast. Your early enough to get good results on meds! Good luck

The rate at which your hair falls out isn't the issue. Everyone loses 100-150 hairs every day. The issue is do those hairs that do fall out grow back at their normal thickness when the next hair cycle begins, or do they grow back thinner? In your case it's pretty obvious they are growing back thinner. You still have good hair now, but perhaps not for long if you don't do something. You're a little young for finasteride, but you can discuss it with your doctor. You can use ketoconazole shampoo, and minoxidil. That will help you save your hair until you're a little older.

Thanks for the advice, also my hair has always been super thin so I’m not sure if it’s growing back thinner.
