Normal Thinning vs. Diffuse Thinning

I can't find any info about this; I started noticing my hairline receding last August. But my hair on top is also thinning out (it's not too bad, but I can see my scalp, though I used to have very thick hair). I just don't know if I have diffuse thinning or not, or if most guys with receding hairlines also thin out some on top without it being considered diffuse thinning.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
