hi there

in order to make my hair thicker: I've applied minoxidil foam 5% once a day (at morning) for 8 months.

saw no improvement so I applied it twice a day (once at morning, second one at night) for another 5 months.

still no improvement.

is it safe to say that minoxidil (foam or liquid) have no effect on me ? didn't try the liquid yet...

note that I am taking propecia for almost a decade and that is what slowed my hair, and it still does at the same rate regardless to minoxidil

We don't know if you switched to twice a day foam or liquid? What % minoxidil did you use? Anyway, Rogaine Foam is a marketing gimmick. I would stay with 5% minoxidil (liquid) twice a day for at least 6 months to see progress. It would be highly unlikely that you see no regrowth anywhere. If you have already tried minoxidil liquid 5% twice a day for 5 months, then go for at least one more month and then asses. Also, if minoxidil even stops hairloss, then it is a sucess

If minoxidil grows your hair, then it is a success.
If you don't see any difference, then it is a success because it stopped hair loss.
If your hair continues to thin, then it is a success because you would have lost more hair if you hadn't been using it.

Therefore, irregardless of your results, minoxidil is always successful

Yes, I would then switch to all liquid form, any inexpensive generic brand 5% minoxidil, twice a day religiously. Use a dropper to apply onto close contact with skin-dab the liquid, and then use finger to massage vigorously so that it gets absorbed into skin, and not wasted on hair strands. They say, in two months you should see new hair. By doing so, at least you know you tried the right way and not in limbo not knowing if it is foam not working or if minoxidil is not for you

is it a good idea to try the minoxidil liquid at morning and the minoxidil foam at night ?

It is better to use the liquid at night and foam in the morning, just because the liquid is too greasy. I don't see the point of making my hair look worst now for an uncertain chance that it might get better in the future.
