Nizoral: Where do I find it and is it for me?

Hello,

First of all, I'm new to this forum. I'll add my 'story' to the section once I get going with a regimen.

I've been trying to find Nizoral to get started with, but am having a lot of difficulty. For the people that use it, where do you find it? How long does X amount of the shampoo last?

I have had an average amount of dandruff, and get itchy and tingly scalps almost daily, especially when I wear hats. I feel that when I itch my scalp it's making it worse for my hair. If I want to get going on Rogaine or something else, I feel like Nizoral would be a good choice.

Does anyone disagree?

Most important is where do I find this stuff?

Thanks :)

Welcome to the forum!

First of all, if your scalp is itchy, you may not want to use Rogaine at all. One of the side effects of Rogaine is irritation on your scalp. I use to experience this, but not so much anymore.

With regards to Nizoral, it all depends on where you live. In Canada, you can get it at almost any drugstore (which is one of the few things that us hair regrowers can get easily in Canada).

In Canada, you can buy two sizes. I usually get the smaller one and it lasts about a month. I apply it every 3 days.

Hope you find a regiment that works for you! Keep on it and post your results.

I live in the US and can't find that blue bottled Nizoral 1%. I only see the reddish/pinkish bottle which is 2% ket.

I get irritated from Kirkland's minoxidil, but Rogaine doesn't irritate my scalp.

Yeah I would get on both of those, you didn't mention getting on finasteride but you should at least try it for 12 months.

I live in the US, so I'm having a hard time finding it.

I was under the impression that finasteride only helps to preserve the amount of hair you have currently. Does it actually improve your hair?

Also, I have a few bottles of rogaine foam that I haven't started yet. Now what? Do I skip the rogaine and dedicate myself to finasteride or just give rogaine a shot?

Thanks for the fast responses guys

You can purchase Nizoral off Amazon if you can't find it locally. This is really a great adjunct to any hair loss regimen. Definitely clears inflammation and itching. I'm surprised though how over the years it seems to be increasing in price...I wonder if it's because people are catching on that nizoral also help with hair loss as a side effect..Lol!

Thanks guys! I'm going to try to get ahold of nizoral, at least to solve the itching here and there.

the mino came in today, but I'm not sure if I'm going to start it just yet. I'm probably going to find a Dr. and see what he says about finasteride. I have a decent health plan, so maybe that might even help. (who knows)

Excited to start my own "story"

I honestly wouldn't recommened finasteride or minoxidil.....if you are in the early stages of hair loss I would recommend you trying to maintain what you have. When I used those 2 it made my life miserable. finasteride would kill my energy and minoxidil made my hair worse. Doctors know nothing about hair loss....they could care less if you are losing your hair because it's not life threatening. That is why you see many bald doctors....

and I mean doctors in general....you might get lucky and find a few diamonds who know what they are talking about.

My advice would be to stick to these forums and seek advice from others on here you can relate to.

So you're saying basically to forgo Doctor's advice and go with advice from random people on the internet??

....uh yea....doctors don't know everything. They are only trained to prescribe medications so you never find out about the options you have that don't require prescriptions. Besides, you are over generalizing what I was saying. If they seem random to you then why are you here? Go to your doctor and ask for advice then if that's what you feel the need for. No one is stopping you. These forums are not random people, but other people with a common goal of stopping their hair loss. That is why you are here. I believe you should use your own judgement and research.
