I started using Nizoral shampoo a week ago and I want to know what to expect. How does Nizoral shamoo work? I am not taking finasteride but I am using Rogain. I am just wondering of Nizoral can actually help keep my native hair? After I started Nizoral, my hair is shedding alot more than before? What does that mean, is that normal? Plesae give me advice, I am a bit scared.

The active ingridient ketkonzale reduces scalp inflamtion and production of sebum, therefore helps against hairloss on the inflamation side of things. Nizoral will most deffenaintly not make you shed. That will be from rogaine.

Does Nizoral shampoo have anything to do with DHT and getting rid of it?
keto the main ingredient in nizoral is a mild anti-androgen

anti-androgens are used to treat hairloss
finasteride is a much stronger and more effective anti-androgen

answer your question>?

Speaking strictly from personal experience...

I began my Nizoral treatment right around the ending peak of my minoxidil shed, so the shed didn't come as alarming to me. Previously, every time I run my hand through my hair when I apply minoxidil liquid, the minoxidil shed will tag about 2 dozen strands of hair (thick and vellus) along with my hand. This phenomenon ceased upon continuous usage of Nizoral. Instead of the heavier minoxidil shed, my shedding pattern changed, instead of loosing everything, I noticed lot of my finer newly grown hair that I gained from minoxidil seem to shed everytime I shampoo with Nizoral. No reason to feel alarmed though, I presume this is because the hair I lost are entering a new hair cycle so I was very excited when this happened.

To give you an idea, I'd say my shed pattern went from a noticeable 2 dozen to about half a dozen on my hand each time I shampoo with Nizoral.

Hair loss is a possible side effect of nizoral. I've been using it every day for a long time myself, and have occasionally noticed increased shedding when exposing the scalp longer. Nothing to worry about. I've been suffering from seborrheic dermatitis, and nizoral stabilizes my scalp. It makes my hair look better too.

Indeed, Enden is absolutely correct! I too have experienced more sheds during more topical time on scalp! I use Nizoral daily, once a day, and I leave it on my scalp for about 30 - 50 mins. depending on my schedule.

He-bat - Try easing into Nizoral slowly however, try applying it every other day at first to see how your body reacts to it. I find the shampoo's effects to be rather harsh to the hair, especially when you leave it on your scalp for such a long time. If you need to rid your hair of oilyness, I personally find Nizoral to be a very strong shampoo that rids my hair of oil but I am not sure if that's applicable to your situation or does that answer your question.

Perhaps, stop the product and observe a while if the itchiness persists? Don't forget, you are using "medicated" shampoo after all...

He-bat, thank you for bringing this new topic.

I don't think Nizoral has ever been discussed here. Actually what is Nizoral?

What is hair loss? What is a shampoo?

Is it true that if I switch my PC off, the internet will go off for the rest of the world?

Nizoral hasn't helped my hair loss at all (I don't think)
It has NO effect on the sebum production, in fact when I use Nizoral my hair seems to get really oily pretty fast... and I make sure I leave it on my scalp for 5 mins, but I do use a mild shampoo before using Nizoral as this helps Nizoral lather in my hair.
