i use it every night, about 5 minutes after applying min oxidil. its easy to apply and no irritation. just part the hair every cm or so and get it onto the scalp. probably best for night application then wash off in morning cosmetically, although the study had it applied directly after washing hair.
if i was going to add another topical i'd probably try to find the most powerful topical antioxidant available...
sorry pondle wasnt snubbing you, just never got around to answering that pm. plus its probably better out here in a thread anyway.
I looked on inhouse. the keto cream is $1 per gram. that is twice the price of spironolactone 5%, to get 2% keto. Apples and oranges, I know. But keto better be synergistic or stronger than spironolactone to justify the price.
keto in the pills is 1/5 the price, but you have to grind it up.
one michael barry posted a little while back. that didnt really convince me though, the nizoral shampoo results had me interested, but i was never going to wash my hair that often so the cream was perfect.
however i do want to find a strong topical antioxidant to go with it.
I think the main advantage of ketoconazole over spironolactone would be that it lasts longer. I think in some of the studies where they had some positive results they only applied it 2-3 times a week (not sure have to check that). spironolactone you have to apply twice a day right(?). So you'd need less of the keto for it to be effective which makes it easier and cheaper also. big advantage imo.
For dandruff and itching scalp usually they say 2-3 times a week is enough, for Androgenetic Alopecia perhaps its best to use everyday directly after shampooing and leave it in. However the manual of the keto-mousse says that you have to leave it in for 30 minutes and wash your hair afterwards, this is strange because it would probably work better if you just leave it in (maybe it smells really bad I don't know)
very good point. spironolactone is apparently only active for between 3 and 6 hours or something similar (off the top of my head). if nizoral can help after being applied only twice a week for 5 minutes, it has to be staying there for a lot longer.
