is it ok to use it? i am afraid of side effects - like liver damage? i am currently dissolving 3 tabs (600mg) in a 60ml minoxidil solution and using 2ml/day/at night and leave it all night(wash on morning)...

Why not just use the shampoo like the rest of us?

Don't you shampoo everyday? Use nizoral and let sit while showering.

What's made you fear liver damage from Nizoral?

:shakehead:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9713096

Even taken as shampoo, Nizoral is only supposed to be taken once a fortnight when dandruff begins to reappear (this is what they specify on the instructions leaflet) not every two days like some people do here. I wouldn't go crazy on the stuff, once every 4 days is plenty.

my red circles around eyes(liver?) appeared after 2 month of nizoral use. my hair is great by the way(no itch, no nothing! - just like before i had problems - i think it's from nizoral), but i'm rly afraid of se. i read somewhere that topical nizoral is not systemic absorbed(on the nizoral cream it has other se than on oral take!?!?!) so i've tried it. i just want to know if it's a risk if i lower the dose to like 1% nizoral/day with min.

Other than that i've got good sexual function and i don't have any other problem that i had on finasteride.

here is my regimen: topical min 2ml/day at night + 2% nizoral
nizoral 2% shampoo/ eod

Please help. Someone who rly knows. (is brian stiil here? :D)

i;ve found something that bryan said a long time ago (2007) on a forum:

"Not when it's used TOPICALLY, which is what we're talking about in this thread. Topical ketoconazole isn't absorbed systemically to any significant extent.

Bryan"

But i still have this question: even if u let it on your head until dry? like we do it with min?

That study refers to 400mg taken internally. You'd probably have to use it liberally like 10 times a day to get that much systemically absorbed. And still only 5 cases!

You use it twice a week just like I do. Why'd you stop Alpecin, by the way?

Stopped Alpecin because I figured it's not going to regrow any of my hair and while it was reasonably effective at slowing down my hair loss, I was worried it would counteract the effect of minoxidil. I know this is only a "rumour" and is not scientifically proven as such, but I didn't want to take the chance with minoxidil being a vasodilator and Alpecin (caffeine) being a vasocontrictor.

Tried finasteride and spironolactone, they gave me sides, so now I'm trying Revivogen along with minoxidil, Tricomin and nizoral.
