I started on Nizorel 2% about a month ago. My hair has NEVER looked worse. Up until I started taking Nizorel 2%, I was only using Propecia. SInce the Nizorel I have had ALOT of shedding and my hair just looks really thin, and I don't have as much coverage as I used to. My question is that if Nizorel is causing the shedding when will the new hair start to grow?

Does Nizorel cause shedding? Anybody else experience this, having there hair turn to crap when starting Nizoel 2%.

Thanks

Hi,

Sorry to hear that..
Well, I personally don't know if I even believe in the properties of Nizoral as for hairloss so I think it does nothing...won't make better won't make worse. Think about it: It's a EXTERNAL product that stays on the head for 5 minutes at the longest....in 5 minutes it can't be absorbed and it doesn't stay there either because you rinse it with water.
I do agree it leaves the hair in a bad condition because it dries..but that has nothing to do with the Ketoconazole...it's merely the harsh surfectants in the formula...So, I personally don't think the Nizoral is to blame. You would have shed either way. I you don't like the feeling of your head after shampooing with Nizoral either stop the use or alter the shampoo with Nizoral cream.

Nizoral dries your hair out especially if you leave it on your head for a long time.

I think you may be going through your first shed from the Propecia which you are blaming on the nizoral.

Hair loss is a very rare side effect from nizoral, if your not happy with it lay off it for a while and see if your shed stops.

If you carry on using it - use a quality moisturising conditioner afterwards or you could mix your nizoral with a mild shampoo and use it that way.

Thanks for the advise guys, but it's not the Propecia. I have been on Propecia since it first hit the market. However, about a month ago I started taking half a pill of Propecia everyday instead of a whole pill. I started doing half a pill about 2 weeks before I started Nizorel, that may be why I am getting the shedding.

At this point I think I need more than Propecia, don't want to go to minoxidil yet because I would have to use it the rest of my life once I start. I am thinking about other topicals. I am researching Revivogen, Tricomin and Nano shampoo's and conditioner. Within the next few weeks I am going to pull the trigger on one of these. Leaning towards Revivogen right now.

I would just give the nizoral a rest for a while then - its no big deal. Your not goign to lose any hair by stopping nizoral.

I find it makes my hair look shitty if i leave it in for too long.

Use T-Gel or T-Sal instead that will still help with inflammation.

Thanks neiltom88 -

That leads me to my next question. I have wanted to try T-Gel but I went to the store and there are about half a dozen different kinds. What should I use.

I think I will stop the nizoral, my hair looks like crap!!!!!

The one which contains Salcylic Acid - it may be called T-Sal in USA.
