i've completed my 17 months on finasteride *1 mg last week..things are not looking good my hairline has receded quite a bit since i started
guess iam kinda norwood 2 on my hairline..but whats bothering more is my crown :(.it has gotten extremely worse
in past 4-5 months,i get this huge part in the centre of my head which never happenned before..it just sucks!!..i did use minoxidil 5%
for around 14 weeks but nothing happenned..just constant severe shedding, it only made my thinning crown even more obvious..
i stopped minoxidil it 3 weeks back..dont know if i will ever recover from that shed

Currently i've updated my regime as follows effective from 16th march
finasteride dosage upped to 2.5 mg (yep iam desperate :( )
folligen alternate days..

Been using toppik lately too to cover up the crown a little bit..i never thought i would be using a concealer ever

i dont know what else to do..i've ordered dr lee's 2% spironolactone.ill start that in the front/crown as soon as it arrives

but i feel kinda dejected and very depressed at this point..having tried all the big guns already and a continiously thinning
head of hair to show for..i dont think i was this depressed even when i first discovered my hairloss

14 weeks on minoxidil? Try a year.. And upping dosage on finasteride won't do a thing, besides waste your money that is. If its not working how you want it, then its obvious that the DHT is only one of many contributing factors to your balding problem.

If you've tried everythign.. then there's only one option left - you have to live with it !

spironolactone sounds like the next logical step. Which you have already ordered.
Maybe dutasteride after that?

As far as living with it, I am nowhere near that yet. Vanity is a huge weakness of mine. Though Rage is right you must someday come to terms with it, that may take me until I am 70.

Everybody here is Vain!! .. Acceptance is probably the only cure but its easier said than done.... spironolactone seemed to be the only thing that has some solid science behind it which i havent tried

As for dutasteride..it will be quite expensive for me and the Generics arent in yet..maybe if i could afford it i would give it a go

I think its dangeroeus starting treatment with propecia, no one ever seems to have anyting good to say about propecia in terms of long-term use. I think it is only effective in the short run. Stick with minoxidil, spironolactone and nizarol.

Why is that so regain? Propecia seems to be the long term solution - so far with rogaine being the short term, fake hair solution.

I´m gonna use propecia until I see results. If there are no results and my hair keeps shedding then I´m gonna shave, wait until the shedding stops permanently then go for the hair transplant. It´s sad but there are worse things in life.

Everyone seems to say this.. yet we never actually find out who originally cooked it up. Maybe it went a little soemthign like this..

Person 1: Hey, Propecia can help your balding did you know?

Person 2: Yeah, I heard its good, too bad about the side-effects.

Person 3: Apparently it makes you go.. a bit limp

Person 4: OMG, it must shrink your balls!

Person 5: If you keep on this treatment, your balls will fall off, you're gonna become a female, grow breasts, and give birth to children!! OMGOMGOMGOGMOMGOGM.

Er.. so year, what Nesta said.

Nobody?! Are you sure about that? Even though propecia is the longest term treatment out today. Ask drinkrum, hairlosstalk, x50, axon, Cassin...etc, to name a few of the people with long term results. And those are just posters on this website, take a look at the FDA study now into its 7th year and many of the guys are still above baseline haircount. Just because one person said some bullshit like that does not mean its true. Newbies, toss out what regain said.

Who knows what damage people are doing to theselves by taking propecia day after day. The chances of adverse affects may be low but remember these adverse affects do occur to some individuals. The next person could be you. I mean what good is having hair when you costantly feel pain and develop nasty side affects such as gyno and other female characteristics. I am sure there are many people out there who wished they had never started propecia treatment as there are perfectly viable alternatoives with virtually zero side affects.

I often wonder how doom and gloom people such as yourself make it throughout the day without handfulls of pills to calm your anxiety and paranoia.

well just started using spironolactone..will give it six months..and now that generic dutasteride is currently available i will give it a go maybe in 2 or 3 months iam really seriously concerned about my hair...i wonder if i will ever recover from my current situation both in terms of hair and my getting depressed over it... I know this sounds crazy..but my hair has thinned out dramatically in just last four weeks..i havent gone through any drastic shedding or anything but it just feels so thin all over my head..i just cant style the way i use to like 4 or 5 weeks ago..ive been losing hair for around 4 years now but i havent seen such a drastic change in such a small amount of time  ..i thought maybe its just lot of built up on my scalp and my hair is matted down or something but just doesnt to be the case!!

iam wondering if its possible for follicles to just shrink or miniaturize witho ut the shedding the current hair??

and to the anti propecia guy there is a risk with every treatment but u just have to take it..u would never know unless u try it..it might grew back ur hair and give u absolutely no side effects...as for my own experience it DID helped in the first 10 months or so..but then i dont know what went wrong..i guess iam one of those extremely unlucky guys who not only bald but dont respond to any treaments available
