Hi there guys, i am having male pattern baldness (not sure if that's correct word for it) and have been reading and interested to try out rogaine or minoxidil. is there any difference in this two? Or i can choose either one of them? Please do advise..

i have been losing hair on the crown and back(not sure what u call that) and it's starting to get worst. I'm 33 male .. Thank u for any help or advise. And i'm not really interested in taking any oral pills like finasteride..

Hi liverpool1208, welcome.

There's no difference between Rogaine and Minoxidil, only the brand names, they both contain the same active ingredient. The active ingredient in Rogaine is Minoxidil, just like generic Minoxidil. You can choose either one but go for generic Minoxidil if you want to save money.

You'll really need to take Finasteride if you want to stop your hair loss, it won't hurt to try. If you experience side effects, you can quit the medication and they'll subside. Minoxidil is for hair regrowth, won't stop the cause of male pattern baldness which is DHT while Finasteride does.

this is what it looks like now.. can i use kirkland minoxidil 5% extra strength hair regrowth for men found in amazon? And where can i get Finasteride? can you point me in the right direction? Thank u so much ...

I would start finasteride and minoxidil in combo. Rogaine/minoxidil are the same thing. You can get a prescription for finasteride from your doctor, or get it online without one at the alldaychemist or inhousepharmacy websites.

I was reading thru the forum and seems some complain regarding finasteride and it's side effects? This worries me a little... Will it be safe and can i take them on alternate days at 0.5mg?

And is this brand kirkland minoxidil 5% a generic minoxidil? are generic safe?

you can take it at that dosage EOD but the difference in sides will be small/negligible at best. Generics are the same exact thing as name brand. Finasteride's sides are temporary and only occur in a few percent of people
