Hi all, great site!

I am 39, have only used one product since 2002, 1mg/day Propecia, pics here:
http://www.hairlosshelp.com/websites/Klink/

I really want to get the crown looking better so here is my plan for 2007:

-Nizoral shampoo, 3x/week
-Rogaine Foam, 2x/day
-Propecia, 1mg/day
-multivitamin, 1/day

I did buy a bunch of Dutas, because I was initially just going to switch from Propecia to Dutas. But after reading on HLH and here, I realized that folks were talking about the Big 3 all the time, and I had not messed with Rogaine since early 2002, and I just looked like a greasy rat. So I feel that I need to give the Big 3 a solid 6 months before I make a big change like going from Propecia to Dutas...

Q) I definitely think Propecia has lowered my libido, should I switch to Dutas, or what would you guys suggest?

Q2) How about MSM?

Q3) I'm open to taking 1-2 natural extracts, any suggestions? I don't feel the need to go nuts with the DHT blockers, ie. saw palmetto, but what do y'all think about zinc, emu oil, and green tea?

Your plan looks good!

If I could recommend but one multivitamin/mineral then I would suggest,

Maxi Hair by Country Life
http://www.country-life.com/moreinfo.cf ... duct_ID=75

It has a wide and varried array of ingredients all essential for hair growth including MSM.

However for MSM to be effective you should be looking at a dosage per day of up and around 4 grams taken with Vitamin C (w/ Bioflavanoids).

Maxi Hair does not have enough MSM or Vitamin C in it to be effective for the best absoprtion when concerned with MSM.

http://www.kornax.com/MSM_Dosage_Charts.htm

The above chart will tell you how much MSM + Vitamin C you should be taking for best absorption rates.

Maxi Hair also contains 2000mcg of Biotin, all time released which should prove beneficial to you.

Oh btw, there was a contradictory study shown on this forum that potentially linked Green Tea to hair loss as opposed to the inhibition of hair loss. Whilst it has been proposed that Green Tea inhibits DHT (?) and whilst this contradictory study to the former fact is yet to be debunked I would be cautious in taking it.

Instead I would opt for Grape Seed Extract, a highly potent anti-oxidant. If not for nothing you should be taking GSE for general health regardless.

Good luck and report back on how you go!

Possibly Eucapil Fluridil, if you can afford it. Good luck

That's a good start, now all you haft to do is religiously keep at it. good luck.

Thanks guys!

Maxi Hair looks good, I will get some. I'll research that other suggestion too!

How about moving over to Dutas, seems like the sides are lessened with dutasteride.

I'd take rather take dutasteride because it's like a 1/3 better than finasteride. And that to me
seems like I'll get 1/3+ more than finasteride, so logically I'd rather take it over finasteride. though, there are side-effects, but are very low percentages.

mine are roughly $90 per month. Kinda steep but worth the money if you wanna see your hair back.

Update. I poked around CVS this morning and they had Rogaine Foam, so I no longer have to wait for my 'net supply to show up. I put some in this morning at work. I can feel a little bit of burning where I applied it, but it could be the alchohol.

I think the libido issue that I have with Propecia is really too much. To be honest I did not think about it for a couple of years, but without being too specific, the number of instances where I am the 'initiator' have clearly dropped.

I've got Reddy's Dutas gelcaps, how many are you supposed to take per week?

I also got some Vive shampoo, since CVS had it. I have been using the American Crew stuff, but I've never researched shampoos that much in the past.

Just use one dutasteride pill per day same as propecia, for dutasteride that's 0.5mg per day.

I’m 40 y/o and I took Propecia for 1 year with decent results (for my age). No sides at all.

I’ve been on Avodart EOD for almost 6 months without any sides. (no results yet)

Some people get sides on finasteride, but not on dutasteride, or vice versa. Some get sides on both.

minoxidil has helped a little bit to.

I recommend Nano shampoo for the days you don’t use Nizoral.
It might be the only one, apart from Nizoral, that could grow some hair. Plus it thickens your hair a bit.

I can’t tell if natural supplements are helping at all, but you could also take them for healthy reasons:
Omega 3 (Fish oil)
Omega 6 (Borage oil or Evening Primrose oil)
Green Tea extract
Grape Seed Extract
Apple Polyphenols

This could be a sticky post where newbies get to know everything they need to know without spending hours of research in this forum.

I will look for my 2002 pics from when I first started Propecia, I took pics every month for 6-7 months.

The neat things about these forums is that folks have tried different combos.... I never knew that guys were using more than one product, I thought they all did the same thing. On the other hand, I think some guys are probably shedding due to irritating their scalps and using too many products.

I used nizoral 2x last week, first time it was a little itchy that night but not the second time.

I used some Vive shampoo today, hair looks pretty darn good with it, I think I'll just occasionally use the American Crew stuff until I run out.

My only complaint at this point is that the minoxidil foam smells like old school H&S from back in the 80's. Wife commented too.

klink,
after the big 3 (finasteride/dutasteride, minoxidil, nizoral) I would add sods like tricomin, prox-N or folligen.

Hi,

maybe you should take a look at the applepoly.com product against male pattern baldness, I really can't say anything about it's claimed power, but I believe it is an interesting tryout.

Other products such as Spectral DNC, Prox-N and green tea extract could be interesting.

Toppik has a shampoo that increase hair density (kreatin based) which maybe could have some "cover-up" effect.

Good luck :)

I've got a few new things going right now, so I'm going to give them 3 months before I start messing with stuff. I've love to switch to dutasteride but then I won't be able to track anything, so I will hold off.

Update: No update. :)

Actually all I have noticed is that the new shampoos make my existing hair fluffier and it looks a ton better. Then I put the foam on the crown and have the wet look until it dries.

Either way I am happy because the shampoos make the crown look much better. Hair does not feel as thin but that's mostly my imagnation I think. :)

I love how my hair looks after using that Vive shampoo.

Now, both the Maxi Hair vitamins showed up and the Jason thin to thick shampoo. I'm looking forward to comparing the shampoos.

I ordered foam from that Min..Direct site, still not here. I'll have to shoot them an email tomorrow, though I noticed she sent it snail mail.

I'm having a blast trying different stuff, so I'll give everything 12 months, see what happens, and take pics.

nizoral: No redness, or problems with it whatsover. The very first time I used it my scalp was a bit itchy, but nothing since then.

Also got some Horny Goat Weed, see what that does.

Wife still thinks I'm nuts. :)
