My temple has been thinning and receding a little, and I've always had a cowlick on my crown by recently I've notice a patch of thinning hair on my crown. I'm 22 m (Asian) if that helps. I just want to know if I'm balding faster than I thought. Just a note, I've been rubbing my hair excessively because of anxiety on the same spot that is thinning, but I've heard rubbing your hair doesnt make it thinner. Thanks!

That’s not a thin spot, it’s a bald spot. That kind of loss looks like it’s caused by traction alopecia. Excessive rubbing, pulling, twisting, etc pulls hair out and damages your follicles. Repeatedly doing this results in permanent loss. Leave it alone and pray that it starts to regrow.

That said, it could also be the result of a fungal infection or the onset of aggressive male pattern baldness.
