Net loss of hair if I stop using Minoxidil?

In the last few years I have had a noticeable thinning of the hair on my crown/receding hairline however all of this seems to have stabilized this past year and I'm not terribly worried about actually going bald... my older (by 5 years) brother went through the same thing when he was my age but still has the majority of his hair (thinned out like my own).

Recently, Rogaine came out with a foam Minoxidil treatment which my hair stylist recommended and which I am tempted to try, with the following reservation:

If I try Rogaine/Minoxidil foam but then decide to stop using it will I end up with less hair than I currently have (a net loss of hair)?

My primary concern is that I don't want to end up with less hair than I currently have should I decide during the course of my treatment to stop using the topical Minoxidil. I'm aware that if I decide to stop treatment (after months or a year) I will likely lose any hair that I've gained during the course of the treatment, however as the thinning on my crown has stabilized, I would rather keep my existing (albeit thin) "natural" hair than risk losing any more during the course of a Minoxidil treatment.

As I said before, I'm pretty sure that I am not going to go bald, but I wouldn't mind thicken my hair a bit and am willing to try the Rogaine foam provided that it will not cause me to lose any of my existing "pre-treatment" hair in the long run.

Also, a secondary question, is there an email address or phone# that I can contact with questions regarding Minoxidil?

I'm pretty new to all this so any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

1 of 3 things will happen when you start minoxidil.

1. you will grow more hair (hopefully)

2 you will maintain what you have

3 you will continue to lose hair like you are doing now(basically minoxidil makes no difference0

4.
the minoxidil will speed up the process(not proven but some say it does)

now if you start minoxidil you have to stick it out for life really

So, assuming that currently I am not losing my hair, if I try a cycle of Minoxidil and then decide to quit can I expect to at least keep my existing hair or will Minoxidil cause further thinning of the hair I currently have (natural)?

if you are not losing your hair and you use minoxidil ,you could still shed but it will come back but make sure you are losing hair before using it

There is no way really to judge how much hair you will lose if you quit. I personally would not quit using it once you start because ANY hair you regrow or maintain while using minoxidil will be lost forever. Just my opinion, I have been on Mixox for about 4 years and feel it gave me the best results of my regimine so far. Also you ask about an email for Rogaine, there number is 1-800-223-0182 and they also have the contact link https://www.brands2liveby.com/contact.aspx. Hope this helps and good luck in your choice.
