Need Some Help With 3-mil Walker Thin Tape.

I purchased a pack of B and CC after reading @Noah state they're pretty undetectable for the hairline.

I have oily skin and the seepage and constant maintenance for the acrylic hairline is getting old.

This is my problem.... . The tape is only 3 in wide, so it's not wide enough to cover the whole hairline.... which is about 5 inches, now that I've widened my template...

Also, even if you cut the hair line on a new system perfectly to the Contour of the tape, I cannot foresee aligning it perfectly each time.... which would leave the edge not adhered or the tape would stick out further than the base, both which would not be ideal.

I really would love to make this work. Right now I get about 3 days from the hairline, if I could get a week it would be a godsend!

Am I missing something?

Curious why you are opting to switch to tape for the hairline, especially after the discussions about potential health hazards associated with tape discussed in an earlier thread. Is it primarily due to ease of cleaning? I have ordered two brands of tape plus Ghostbond so I have some options to experiment with, but now I am getting confused about which bonding method to go for. Any thoughts and experiences (good or bad) about bonding options would be welcome.

Just received an email from Walker that they do make super wide 5 inch 3-mil contoured tape. That's great to hear. They also said they're open to making custom sizes!!

I can still use some help from anyone experienced with these, as to how you're going to apply it perfectly every time. Also I'm sure all of us trim the hair line here and there as the unit wears... and that's going to change the alignment as well.

I ordered Lace FX and Supertape. Are either of these suitable for the hairline or should I also pick up some Walker 3Mil? Regardless of the brand, it's very surprising to me that tape provides a longer bond than liquid adhesive. Some of the salons advertise up to 4 weeks between servicing, and I believe that's all with liquid adhesive. I attached one brand of tape to my neck the other day to see how the bond was, but I didn't think to get it wet to see how well it would hold. The bond didn't feel particularly strong, will it stay attached if I soak the system in the shower say a day or two after attaching? I ask because I shower pretty much daily.

To give you a rough idea... using any other tape on the hairline would essentially double the thickness of the hairline... making it very apparent that you're wearing.

I haven't started wearing yet, my system arrives in January. This is all just preparation and research on my part. I do appreciate all your input. This will be daunting enough and I can't imagine doing this without communicating with actual wearers. My system will be a fine mono with a PU perimeter and 1/2 inch of lace at the hairline. I expect that for my second system I'll be ordering a different base material.

I edited my earlier comment. I was talked into fine mono at the salon but based on comments in this forum I think I'll be ordering something else next time. Unfortunately my education on bases came after I placed the order.

I have stopped using the thin tape given it is very hard to apply, peel off backing. Would also like input from wearers..
I have A contour and end up cutting another A contour in half to continue the wider hairline. ( each half on each side of the full A piece)

I was applying it just a bit over the edge and cut the excess with sharp scissors , rubbing coton swabs with alcohol in order to keep scissors free of glue. As mentioned, that tape is hard to cut as it has no backing...like cutting through glue...

I ordered a big batch at once as product is not available in Canada...so would like to use it ..once I get more tips on application...

Like you, oily skin, do never got more than 3-4 days hold with thins...

The hairlines on the custom systems that I order for myself, and clients do not fit the standard contour sizes, so I usually cut them in half and then position then so the tips in front meet, and the there is a small triangle behind the front that is open. Works like a charm!

So you're able to get the 3 mil tape to line up perfectly with the outer edge of the hairline?
