Hello all of you!
I am a 25 year old student, who also is suffering from male pattern baldness..
Last year after i get my hair cut short, i almost get a heart failure looking at the result.. My hair was very thin. Since then i hopped on the Minoxidil boat, this was in march 2014.

My plan is to start with finasteride in a couple of days, because i am afraid to lose more hair..
Below i posted some pics . The first two pictures are my hair in december 2014. In the 3rd picture you guys will see a "bald line" or something.. What is this?

Last picture shows my hair today, without any styling product.

Am i suffering male pattern baldness or Diffuse thinning?
Am i a good candidate for the big 3?

Sorry for my non perfect English, it isn't my first language.

Well, as we always have to warn before making a judgment on here, none of us are doctors so our opinions are not fact. That being said, many of us in this balding community are fairly adept at judging hair loss. I would say, purely by judging your photos alone, you are definitely suffering from some sort of alopecia (hair loss). That 3rd photo you posted looks as if you might have thinning hair in an area that is not normally associated with male pattern baldness, so you could be looking at alopecia areata or even DUPA (diffuse unpatterned alopecia). None of us here can know for sure because we are not medical professionals, nor do we have the tools to judge something like that for certain. Your best bet would be to go to a dermatologist that specializes in hair loss. I know those are not on every street corner, but they are the only ones that could provide you with the correct answers to your questions rather than the conjecture or speculation that you might get from members of this forum, myself included. Get it checked by a professional, dude.

I dont think its alopecia areata because if it was then you would have some small bald patches on your head in areas that are unusual from the typical male pattern baldness pattern. Although it does look like some type of diffuse thinning. Either its male pattern baldness diffuse thinning or some type or something else. Ive seen some hairloss like yours that are caused by parasites and worms. Go to the doctor to get it checked.

Thanks for the replies so far. I have my blood checked.. The only thing that came out was a deficiency in vitamin D, nothing else. My doctor also told me that this is 'normal'. I noticed the thinning in march 2014, this was several months after ending my relationship after 4 years. This was a stressfull period, with some feelings of depresssion. Before starting finasteride, i hope to find out if it is the right treatment for me. Before i take a drug that isnt for my problem.

Sometimes i also notice some hairs in and around my crown and vertex are standing out like a radio antenna. Also an itchy scalp! Frontal hair has become thinner.. In sunlight or bright light such as in an elevator, you can easily see my scalp. Sometimes i also have kinda acne on my scalp..

I just received my generic 5mg. Plan to take my first 1mg afyer cutting it up in 5ths. For some reason i think my thinning is going slow, but i can tell for sure that my hair doesn't look the same like 2 years ago. It is new for me, that i can see my scalp ( frontal and side) in bright light and is some sunlight.

Here are some another pictures of the current situation i'm facing. In the Second picture, you can see what i exactly mean when i'm talking about a visible scalp, it is because a miniaturizing/ receding hairline, it think.. The picture was taken in the bathroom, with some gel in my hair.

If you are 100% certain that your hair loss was caused by stress then I wouldnt even stress it. The hair will eventually grow back in like 6 months or so. Just take daily multi b vitamins. Hairloss from stress has a different outcome than hairloss caused by male pattern baldness.

Thank you for the input. Honestly i don't think my hair loss is caused by stress. It has been for almost a gear ago npw, since i've 'reach' this status..

You could have developed Chronic Telogen Effluvium which might explain why its been going on for so long. Or just like cinncinatikid said DUPA (Diffused Unpatterened Alopecia).
