So here's my story : I started losing hair when I was 23 - the hair around the temple region and on the back of my head started to thin. I hit Norwood 2 that year which was when I decided to try the Rogaine (Minoxidil 5%) foam. And within 3 months of getting on Rogaine - the results were really really good (I was back to being a Norwood 1). I stuck to Rogaine for like a year and a half - I didn't experience any hairfall/thinning then and I did not lose the hairs that I managed to regrow.
Everything went downhill though pretty soon after that. After being on Rogaine for almost a year and a half - I noticed slight shedding (both - on the front and back) that only intensified as the months went on and soon I was back to being a Norwood 2 (almost a Norwood 3). Rogaine wasn't working for me anymore and so I decided to stop using it.
A year had gone by and I wasn't on any sort of hair care drug/medication - my hairs kept thinning (I was approaching Norwood 4 on the front) and sInce I knew that Rogaine wasn't working for me, I tried this bullshit Indian product called "Hair for Sure" (it's like this oil/tonic that you gotta directly apply to your hair). I was on it for 8 months and that didn't work either.
I decided to switch back to Rogaine, hoping it'd work this time coz it had been long since I last used it. And after 8 months of getting back to Rogaine - still no results.
I didn't give up on Rogaine though. I thought I'd continue with it for a while longer, but only this time - I decided to add Viviscal Man into the mix (the tablets with the shark cartilage in it).
Fast forward to today, I'm 28 now and I've been on Viviscal Man+Rogaine foam for almost a year now and I still see no results. I'm on a Norwood 4.5 now in the front and probably a 3 in the back.
I recently (like 2 weeks ago) got rid of the Viviscal and Rogaine treatment coz it's giving me 0 results and is pretty darn expensive too.
So here's are my questions :
Should I give Propecia (Finesteride) a shot? I've never tried it before and I'm not too worried about the side effects/side effect stats.
And like I mentioned - I was on Viviscal Man for a year almost, and I've stopped taking Viviscal man for almost two weeks now. Can I go ahead and start taking Propecia immediately or should I wait a little longer?
And anybody know where I can find the FDA approved version of Finesteride (Propecia) in India?
