Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and have been going through this forum for more than a month. I finally took the courage to start a thread. I am 24 years and has been losing hair since past 2 years. I didn't care much except now I am noticing a difference. My hair has thinned a lot and I am beginning to see less hair at temples. I am deciding to start with the Big 3. Need your opinions.

Finasteride asap, Nizoral, and minoxidil if you think you can ben consistent with it, otherwise don't use it.

UPDATE: Okay, so I have consulted 2 doctors. One of them said that I had come too late after I lost a lot of hair :p She prescribed me
i) Finpecia 1mg once a day
ii) Mx 5% once a day
iii) Biotin 10mg once a day
iv) 8x shampoo

The other doctor gave me a different treatment regime. I couldn't understand the medicines which she wrote
i) Tricovin (tablet) - said it was some vitamin tablet
ii) Dutoprost 0.5 mg (I guess this is Dutasteride 0.5mg)
iii) Chymotrost - she said this is a spray so I guess this is Minoxidil
iv) some kerotyol PSO shampoo
Forgive me as I couldn't understand her writing
Additionally she said that I take PRP treatment once every 15 days.

So, after a lot of dilemma and thought process, I decided to follow the first regime. It has been 4 days since I have been using the following
i) Finpecia(Finasteride IP) by Cipla - 1mg once a day
ii) MX 5- 5% liquid applying daily before going to bed
iii) Biotion 10mg tablets once a day
iv) Cipla 8x shampoo

I shaved my head completely prior to starting this and then started using. Being completely bald, it is easier for me to apply Minoxidil.
i) But being bald, I can't tell whether the medication is working for me or not as I can't notice the shedding
ii) I had pain in my stomach/abdomen for 2 days after starting finasteride. It was intermittent and occurred many times a day. I am feeling better today however. Is this a side effect of finasteride ?
iii) I knew about the side effects of finasteride prior to this. Prior to this I had many erections in a day. Now I can notice much less maybe once a day or so. And probably a bit softer erections too. I will keep updated regarding this.
iv) Would you suggest me to take PRP treatment?

Being 24 years and I almost have full hair except a minor hairline loss at temples and thinning all over. All this thinking about hair since the past few months is driving me crazy. I would like your honest opinions and suggestions.

The first 2 pics were taken in sunlight just before shaving my head. The last 4 are today's pics.

It's certainly not too late. Even in your hairline and temples where much thinning has already happened, there is still hair. I would expect you will kae some significant regrowth in the hairline, maybe temples too. Even if you just maintain, your still in NW2 territory and as your 4th picture proves, you can still pull off a cool hair style. So don't despair, you left it later than you should, but most people do, very few recognise and treat hair loss at it's earliest stages. It's certainly not too late. As for your regimen, it all sounds good, don't know what cipla shampoo is, but the rest is the normal and effective treatment. Good luck, if you regrow then great, if you just maintain, then you still have most of your hair and can pull off cool styles.

Thanks mate. As for the 8x shampoo, it contains
i) Ciclopirox 1%
ii) Zinc Pyrithione(ZPTO) 1%

I have edited the post and put some updated pics. I would be more than happy if I can just keep this hair. Anything more would be bonus. I only hope it doesn't get worse. Will keep updating regularly anyways. Thanks

He really doesn't need concentrated minoxidil or dutasteride, the usual 5% should be fine and finasteride too. Or even just finasteride if he's happy with maintenance. Seeing the head shaved photos, his hairline looks really quite good, it's nice and straight, extends the full breadth of his forehead. It has receded but it's still just NW2 recession. His hairline is still well into normal non balding range. If I saw him on the street with his head shaved, I probably wouldn't think he's balding at all.

Just give the finasteride (and 5% minoxidil if you want) a try for a year, if you're not satisfied then consider dutasteride and stronger minoxidil. Way too early to go for the biggest guns, and almost certainly unnecessary.

Good news is if finasteride doesn't work for you, you already know a doctor willing to write a script for dutasteride. Also I agree that it not being too late, late would be someone slickbald.

Also shaved down its unnoticable.

Good luck.

Thanks for those encouraging words. You people are helping me a lot in this early days. I don't know why but I am facing a lot of anxiety since few days. I have read a lot of success stories of long term users but was s*** scared by some of the horror stories. Honestly, the fact that I am still in my early 20's and have to continue taking a pill for the rest of my life is something I am unable to come to terms with. And the other thing is the anxiety that whether I would be able to respond to this drug or not. And the potential side effects too run through my mind. I am hoping I get over this phase soon.

Do we need to shampoo daily when using Minoxidil ?
And can we use hair oils once in a while ? Like I have a habit of applying coconut oil and also apply a henna mask occasionally ! Should I avoid those now ?

Thanks

Taking a pill every day is a pain, but it's cheap. My greatest concern wasn't taking it or side effects, but that it wouldn't work. Thankfully for most men it does. The next biggest concern is it may not work forever, it may stop working in 6-10 years in which case you'll wish you could take it forever! Your hair now is fine, don't worry, just take that pill and hopfully you will, like the majority of men, respond well to finasteride.

Yes, keep shampooing. I use Aussie miracles moist shampoo, conditioner on the ends and Nizoral 2 days a week. It should be fine to apply oils and henna mask, no reason they should hurt.
