Hi everyone, I am 29 years old and have baldness problem. I went to a cosmetic clinic in London to enquire about hair transplant but instead of giving me that the surgeon offered me to start using a drug called DUTASTERIDE. I am ok to try anything but i believe there are side effects of this drug. I am not sure how dangerous the side effects e.g impotency, are and will it effect my life in a major way. Also is the hair growth increased only on the head or other parts of body as well. Because all i need is hairy ears and nose full of hair.

Hair growth properties should only be observed on:
Crown, anterior scalp, hairline, and temples with Dutasteride. In my experience, Dutasteride is a completely safe drug, with minor if any side effects. I'm certain that if a doctor prescribed Dutasteride to you, then it's probably for the best. I would choose Dutasteride over a hair transplant any day.

I know this doesn't help much, but that's my two cents. Goodluck buddy.

That isnt even legal. Which clinic was this? Under UK law, drugs can only be prescibed for indications they are licensed for (check out http://www.bnf.org.uk). Dutasteride is not licensed for use in hair loss.

I would take a look around this site first. There are alot of things that can treat male pattern baldness. Educate yourself with all of the treatments and regimens out there: DHT Inhibitors, Growth Stimulants, SOD's, Anti-Inflammatory's, Antiandrogens.
