Hey guys, I bought finasteride maybe back in September and have since given it two seperate tries. First time I took the full 1 mg for about 4 days in a row and experienced ball ache but most notably intense brain fog rather shortly after just my first dose (maybe 12-13 hours after). I stopped taking the propecia solely because of how slow it made me feel and it took my body about a full week to begin feeling back around 100% again. Fast forward a few months and I decided to give it another shot at a reduced does. I quartered my pills hoping that the side effects might be lessened as some people had suggested but once again within about the first 24 hours I felt the brain fog creep up on me again. I continued this for about half a week again until I quit out of fear I might be causing irreversible damage. My question then I guess is whether or not this fog is a normal initial side effect of beginning the drug and if I should persevere for maybe a couple of weeks through it? I always hear of people talking about the initial sexual sides of propecia but not so much the mental ones. Any advice on the matter would be much appreciated.

Finasteride has a pretty flat rate for DHT inhibition (.2 mg inhibits 60%, vs 70% at 1 mg) so taking smaller doses shouldn't have much of an impact on sides, contrary to popular belief. I seemed to be fine starting out on the drug for about a year and a half (aside from watery semen), but eventually it caught up with me. Sexual sides and yes, brain fog.
