Nearly 18, am i losing hair or just gowing through a shedding phase?

Hello,

I'm new to this, so apologies if I sound ridiculous, but I do have an issue I believe. Naturally since birth, I've always had a backward/receeded hairline, but over the past few weeks and month or so, my right temple has begun to thin, whereas my left seems normal. I'm wondering, is this normal shedding or early signs of male pattern baldness?

The first image was a month or so ago, my hairs at the temples looks fuller. The second and third are what it looks like now, thinner and less hairs. The temples are the only region affected, elsewhere is fine, no thinning.

Unless you have BDD, if you think that you are balding, more than likely you are.

The point you mentioned about little white hairs at the temples, are they a good sign? I'm seeing them very faintly, about an inch in length and very thin and light.

Keep an eye on it. It looks like mine at 18. The good news is mine started like that but progressed very slowly over 15 years and I've still got most (about NW2) .

The way I confimed mine is I noticed little white hairs in front of the temples that stopped growing at about 1 inch.

Others will disagree...but at your age personally I wouldn't hop on finasteride, unless you start seeing massive increase in loss. Just my opinion but I feel like I didn't finish developing until about junior year of college, and I wouldn't want finasteride interfering with my extreme sexual prowess.

Yours still looks good though, if that helps. I stressed about mine too much over the last 15 years thinking I was a big old baldy...had a lady tell me the other day "you still have a full head of hair".
