My temples have receeded 1/2 cm in last 1-2 months.

Been off from minoxidil for almost 1-1 and half months. My temples have receeded to another 1/2 cm.

If I start Finasteride now, I may have double shed, one from minoxidil and one from finasteride.

How long before I can start Finasteride?

I dropped minoxidil because it was a pain to apply, I had white flakes all over my head. On the positive note, I had gained thickness on top, even though I applied minoxidil on temples and hairline.

Does 5 month minoxidil application and then dropping it will also result in huge shed? I thought when people drop minoxidil after a lot of years the shed is dramatic. Never expected to shed badly just after 5 months.

Finasteride is much different from minoxidil when it comes to shedding. Most people that use minoxidil will shed from the product but with Finasteride as like propecia, the likelyness that you will shed is half and half or even less. But the soon you start taking propecia or 1/4 proscair the longer and better change you have from keeping your hair. One of the bad things will happen is that propecia will not save any of the new hair that minoxidil regrowth for you. That will fall off but if propecia which you will have a 84% that it will. Get on it now, Now, NOW.

Get on finasteride NOW. It is the easiest and the most effective proved treatment right now. And you just have to pop a pill in the morning and start your day , the pill will do its job : block DHT, thats what I call peace of mind!

Add some nizoral, maybe some minoxidil before bed would be great too. Try to reduce your stress and eat good stuff, do some exercice to get in shape and good looking..why not some new clothes and a tan?

Have sex as much as you can and keep smiling too :lol:

Take a picture of your head every two months, in one year check it out!

Hey thanks for the replies guys. Its been only 2 months since I quit minoxidil. My temples have receeded to 1/2 cm..so I assume I am shedding the hair minoxidil saved.

I dont count my hairs in the shower or look in the comb after combing my hair..as its very depressing to see soldiers from head dieing.

Petchsky n HairLossTalk.com told me earlier that if i start finasteride now, I may have double shed. One which is happening due to minoxidil and One which may happen after you start finasteride.

So thats why I wanted to know, whats the safe time period, after which my minoxidil shed is over..so then I can start finasteride.
