I have been losing my hair now for around three years.
When i first noticed it, i instantly began treating it with minoxidil (regaine version uk) i did so for the next 2 years and believed it helped keep alot of my thinning hair.
The third year however, regaine alone seemed to be losing the battle, i had severe scalp irritaion and found myself picking my scalp as the itch was unbearable. I decided to try this board for some ideas, and after weighing up all the pros and cons of the available treatments i thought my best bet would be to try Propecia.
Unfortunately this treatment was not for me as i had serious sexual side effects, and found it very hard to maintain an errection.
Although my girlfriend was very understanding it was putting a strain on our relationship and after nearly three months gave up on Propecia.
So back to the drawing board for me, by this time my hair was receeding so much it was joining behind my hairline for a classic horse shoe pattern. Not only that, the top of my head was showing rapid thinning all over. I was unable to style my hair like before (always had it like sonic the hedgehog!!!!) and still had a really persistant itch and flakey scalp.
After seeing my doctor and given poor advice i decided to tackle this thing on my own and set about building a regimen containg the next best things to propecia.
The following is a list of all the things i subject my hair through everyday
Morning:
Head and shoulders for fine limp hair (purple bottle)
(nizoral every third day)
Regaine 5%
Green Tea Extract
Grape seed extract
Mega Vitmains for hair (contains biotin, zinc, B6, PABA, Copper,Inositol, L-Cysteine and loads more)
Vitamin B complex (busy B's)
Evening:
Tea Tree oil shampoo
St ives Swiss Hair repair (alternate with aussie miracle)
Aussie 3 minute miracle (fennel, balm mint, jojoba, aloe vera)
Regaine 5%
Folligen
I can honestly say my hair has never been in better shape, i have talked to stinger about this (most of you regulars know him) and have played a video to him showing me around 5 months back with THE worst thinning hair ever! I then showed him a pic i had just took with my digi camera to comapare, the results spoke for themselves.
So there ya have it, if stinger reads this then i would like him to back me up
