Hey Everyone,

Firstly, I'd like to acknowledge this board and its small group of dedicated members for all of the useful advice they provide. Despite the large numbers of views all of the topics get, it seems that only a handful of people actually engage themselves in the board--bravo for those who do. If it wasn't for reading past threads, I don't think I would have been proactive enough to take action against my hairloss.

Anyways, I've been using minoxidil (Kirkland 5%) one to two times daily for 2 months. It should be noted that I've never missed a dose, but sometimes I only apply in the evenings, since its preferable to have the stuff dry before heading out for the day. Currently I've noticed a dramatic reduction (virtually a hault) of my hair loss, although at the beginning of the treatment I was losing about an average number of hairs; however, the hairs that I did lose were miniaturized and, when observed closely, are best likened to carpet fibres versus healthy thick hairs.

In terms of visable improvements by conservative estimates I've only improved slightly. My hair loss was never that bad (diffuse thinner, slightly noticeable on the crown), so at this point the difference is not dramatic. Since my hairloss has stopped (I think I'm losing fewer hairs than non-male pattern baldness suffer would) its my belief that regrowth is on its way, hopefully appearing around month 4, when most people observe it.

Also:
-No sides (maybe heart irregularities upon first few doses)
-My hair loss was not temporarily exacerbated like many report

I should mention that for all of those who are too afraid to try minoxidil--you really should give it a go. The side effects do occur in some people, but virtually all drugs have side effects, so don't let it deter you. And for everyone who says that its too much work to apply topical solution 1-2 daily give me a break, by the very nature of the fact that your spending your time on a hair loss talk forum obviously care about your hair. Knowing that you're doing something will be a huge relief, and trust me applying minoxidil its no more arduous than applying deodorant or brushing you teeth--its just part of a routine.
