Hi everyone.

I feel hairloss is the worst enemy anyone could ever think of. I always figured I can't go bald and if I did, I would try my very best to do something about it, even if that meant wearing a wig. Then of course, about a year ago, I notice my hairline receding and thinning >.< Over the course of this last year, it's gotten worse, but I've just started taking minoxidil (Regaine, 5%) a couple days ago so I'm hoping I can get back as much as I can. I'm also using it for my beard because I got the unlucky state of having too much DHT in my hair and not enough in my beard. After a while, I'll start on the finasteride which should hopefully help my keep the rest of my hair.

Anyway, while I understand my situation isn't too bad. Many people tell me I'm not balding (I think they're just not so clued up on the early warning signs, but I'd like to get some understanding from you where I am on the Norwood scale. I figure I'm around a NW2, but I'd like to get some understanding from you as well.

Thanks :)

NW1.5ish. You can tell where your original hairline is I believe on your right side, very early and minor loss. Minoxidl and finasteride will be able to maintain that. You've got nice hair. I'm jelly.

I'm just hoping that I can get that back! There's a little on my left side which appears like it can come back, but I've come to the acceptance that it'll never be a straight hairline again there.

your hair seems to look really thick. is your crown thinning noticeably.

It did used to be much thicker, but I feel like it's just because of the recession of the hairline that makes it noticeably less thick. I've got a bald spot on my crown, though from what I can tell, I've had that since my teen years, so I'm not sure if I just didn't notice until then. For the most part, the thinning seems to be along the hairline and on the temples.

Yeah I guess Norwood 2. Jump on finasteride and save that hair!

I've started the minoxidil for the time being. When I can afford it, I'll get myself onto the finasteride. My uncle asked "So when you're cutting it off" and I said "I'll wait until I'm bald" and he said "Not long then" while rubbing his bald head. I wish to show him I'll never go bald!!

If you actually care about keeping your hair you will find the money for finasteride. minoxidil wont actually stop your male pattern baldness. And btw finasteride cost me less than $40 a year, it is by far the cheapest of all the hairloss treatment options.
