MY HUGE DILEMMA

Ummm..

I am in no way more important, or more deserving than any other poor sufferer here, but I have a MASSIVE dilemma.

Heres the thing. I model.

I've been modelling for years, started off with the market catalogues, now getting into some serious stuff. Heres the stages of my hairloss.

2003: (18 yrs) Thin all round, temples shrinking,
2004: (19 yrs) Thin all round, temples receded, nothing too dramatic
2005: (20 yrs) Crown thin, receded temples
2006: (21 yrs) Crown very thin, temples receded, middle of head thin but not that bad
2007: (22 yrs) Thin all over my head, crown shocking, temples receded with hairline.


My experiences:

Rogaine LIQUID: Brought back my hairline on two occassions, first time it took ONE month. Second time it took TWO months.

Propecia: Was on it for 2.5 months 1x day, gave me BAD ACNE. Jumped off it.

Dutasteride: Was on it for once-every-5-days, BAD ACNE returned.

I think TEST is also killing my hair not just DHT.

Im now on Rogaine Foam.

June: Used it 1x day on temples
July: Used it 2x day on temples
August: Using it 2x day on temples AND entire head/crown.

So far: TINY hairs on temples.

I need my hair for work.. I need my hair for 5 years. I just wanna pursue this career for 5 years.

Rogaine FOAM 2x Day for 5 years, plus a spironolactone type Shampoo with GTE?

Will this cut it? Please, please, please help.

And I REALLY need improvement within the next 3 to 6 months. What am I to do?

eh, i was a model from 18 to 23. get an education and do something more challenging.

there is little to no chance of seeing rapid improvement in 3 months. quite possibly you could look into concealers as well, although i dont know how well they'd go seeing as the lights used on a set are usually way brighter than the midday sun.

also i mean this not in a nasty way, but if you can't stay on finasteride for more than 3 months, and dutasteride for probably less, then your hair has little to no chance. the only people who treat hair loss successfully are those who stick with their treatments, religiously.

i understand where you're coming from, but it's a charmed existence that can't last. been there myself.

I'd stick to Propecia.. if it wasn't for the ridiculous acne it gave me.

SURELY minoxidil could buy me some time?

yes, most definately it can buy you time. however..

the reality of it is you probably can't see improvement in 3 months. with that in mind, i then recommend you use spironolactone lotion, and obviously the minoxidil you are already on. revivogen would probably also be a good idea, but it's expensive. and minoxidil can cause sheds, which means there is a chance things could get worse before they get better.

don't smoke, don't eat sh*t food, but you probably already know that because the skin nazi's at your agency bust your balls otherwise.

Especially don't smoke because it's terrible for your skin and hair and bank balance and body odour and internal organs and brain and... well... everything really.

Sh1t food once or twice a week, if you must.

I'd advise you to get on Dutasteride if you want maximum results. It has done my skin good as well as my hair.

That really is weird. For me, Dutasteride has really cleaned up my skin. I never had big problems with acne, but my complexion is so much better since I started taking it...

Well I tried Propecia for 2.5 months.. that resulted in acne all over my back, shoulders face and scalp.

Calmed it down with anti-biotics.. still some scarring left.

Though dutas would be different, but no.. brought the acne back.

Prick about it is that it didn't on my brother.. but did on me... skin went alot oilier.

I am now convinced of one thing.

TEST is killing my hair, and creating acne.

I will now fight it with rogaine foam 2x day.. and a spironolactone/gte type shampoo. I am convinced this will buy me another 5 years of regrown strong hair.

I don't think you've given the Propecia enough time. Time and patience are key to any success. I'd suggest you study the 'Start researching' in the resources section of this excellent site.

I believe that you need to stick with the Big 3 (Propecia, minoxidil, Nizoral) as the proven treatments first and then add less proven ones later on.

I got acne on my back for about 5 months from Propecia. It came and went a couple of times, but now has cleared up. If you're getting it on your back the best way in my experience is to lie under the sun for half an hour - ultra violet kills the bacteria and generally works well in this area.

If it was just normal acne.. i'd go f*** it, I'll keep going.

But the kind of acne Propecia gave me was FREAK SHOW acne.

Keep in mind, if you can't grow back the amount of hair you're looking for, maybe it could put some meaning into this modeling business. If you really enjoy it, there's no need to stop just because you're losing your hair. Maybe you could be an inspiration to all those balding guys who see your picture. If you were basically flawless, you'd just be another one of those models who makes guys feel like sh*t because they set ridiculous standards. If you can still manage to look good even without hair, you could give hope to a lot of guys in your situation.
