my hair's thinning, but it wasn't diagnosed as male pattern baldness? (pictures inside)

My hair's been like this 2 years, and it was diagnosed as alopecia areata because I have similar weak patches of hair in areas that aren't typical of male pattern baldness. I went to another hair specialist and he didn't see anything suggesting male pattern baldness. The thinning hasn't spread, changed or gotten worse since I first noticed it, but it still looks suspect to me and I haven't seen a picture of alopecia areata that looks like what I have - most of the them have straight-up bald patches. I could pass for early male-pattern when I have a buzz cut. Do you think I should get another opinion on this? Notice the little flecks of hair at the front of my hairline - that's what throws me off the most about the diagnosis I got. Although I notice my hair looks kind of similar on the sides too which is what the hair specialist pointed out. When my hair's thicker, it looks normal but I usually have to get some of the little flecks of hair at the edge of my hairline cleaned out. They grow back the same every single time they're cut. I'm 20 and don't have a family history of male pattern baldness.

Hard to actually tell if your thinning anywhere cause your hair is cut short. Temples are intact and doesn't look like any hairline recession. From what I've seen and read alopecia areata usually forms in little circles that could grow in size all over your head, but then again I have no idea what the beggining stages of it look like so these weak patches your derm told you about might be it? Unsure.

Aside from the areata, totalis, universil there is also one called diffused areata (alopecia areata icognita) which I just found out about on here. It essentially mimics Telogen Effuvlium where hairloss is all over not like the patchy bald spots you would see in areata. There is also DUPA (Diffused Unpatterened Alopecia) low end of the totem pole as you are less likely to respond to typical male pattern baldness treatments.

My opinion get another opinion lol.

You're not losing your hair, it's the same density on top and on the sides, and it's a good density, I don't even know what you're doing here. Stop looking at your scalp under a microscope.
