My GP wants me to wait a month...

Went to my GP about starting Propecia. Had blood tests last week to see if it might be some kind of defficency but everything came back normal. However my Doctor is now saying she wants to wait a month before prescribing propecia as I'm taking other medication (recently started) and if I have sides she wants to know whats causing them. Kind of makes sense I guess but still, a month is a long time when you're losing hair and the earlier I start the better right?

So I figure I'm just going to order online. I just want to be sure - www.unitedpharmacies.co.uk can be trusted right?

I can't be bothered with the hassle of cutting pills so I'm just going to go for Finpecia (Finasteride) 1mg tablets. Once a day right? Does this seem ok to everybody? I just want to make sure I'm getting the right stuff.

Don't you want to be sure what is causing the sides if you have them?

If your doctor has no problem prescribing it you should wait. Not much is going to happen in a month.

You should wait a month. 1 month really is not a long time in the hair loss game. You most likely wouldn't even notice to difference. Her logic is sound because side effects with finasteride are fairly common and it would be good to know whats causing what side effect. Also, why not just get proscar, cutting up into 4/5 pieces takes all of 30 seconds.

Ummm...no they are not common. It may appear to be so by reading a hair loss board where those having issues tend to congregate, but the vast majority of folks do not experience a problem. There's absolutely no sense telling something like this to someone about to start Propecia.

Well I'm not sure if it's even guarnteeded she's going to prescribe propecia after the month is up. Last time we spoke I was confident, this time though she seemed more ambivalent, talking about contacting a derm for me to see if there are any other alternatives. I mean I appreciate the concern/effort, but there aren't really any alternatives are there?

At the moment my hair loss is not really visible to other people. I can cover it. That's why I want to start propecia immediately. Try and delay things for as long as possible.

But I can trust unitedpharmacies right? Delivery time says 7-14 days so I suppose I might wait. It's just I really want to feel as if Im doing something, anything, you know? knowing Im using something that might help would really make things easier for me to deal with.

Maybe I should just put an order in, then wait the month. If she's still umming and ahhing I'll be able to start immediately anyway. Sounds like a pretty good plan to me.

Alright, fair enough. I think I've been caught up in the hair loss forums and have used it as my sample to draw some conclusions sometimes.

Anyways, to OP you should just wait the month. It not going to have any real affect on your hair.
