My Comments on being a Vegetarian

More than 6 months have passed since I switched to a standard vegetarian diet. My diet excludes any type of meat or product with meat in it, but does allow for cheese, milk, and eggs.

On the physical aspect, I've significantly reduced any remaining body fat. My muscle mass has also lessened. I find myself getting sick frequently and taking longer to process an illness. A cold might happen once-a-month, and its duration may last 2 weeks, even with a healthy vegetarian diet and vitamin intake.

My appearance has improved, and my energy level remains relatively high and consistent. My skin seems to "glow", and I feel "cleaner", so to speak.

Mentally, I still have bouts of depression, but the episodes have been fractionalized since undertaking my new diet. All senses-- especially taste, sight, and smell-- have improved. I carry a sense of accomplishment when I consider the diet's many environmental and "moral" benefits.

Budget-wise, it's generally cheaper, but items like vegetarian protein are 1.5x more expensive than regular meat. Getting enough fruits and vegetables to substitute for the typical meat-consuming diet will prove costly.

I'm personally very happy with it. As mentioned above, there are negatives, but I like to think that the pros outweigh the cons. I'll review my diet again in another 6 months...

I am "lucky" in that I never get sick... maybe once every 2 years, and I usually kick it right in the ***. Although my strong immune system is probably related to my hair loss (my own personal crazy side theory)

Aplunk, I'd suggest you take at look at http://www.water4.net

They claim to make an Omega 3 (DHA and EPA) supplement made from algae. (Which they say is where fish get their omega 3s from, and how we end up getting it from fish.)

not that crazy. if immuno suppresants have been documented as regrowing hair, there must be some involvement.
