More than 6 months have passed since I switched to a standard vegetarian diet. My diet excludes any type of meat or product with meat in it, but does allow for cheese, milk, and eggs.
On the physical aspect, I've significantly reduced any remaining body fat. My muscle mass has also lessened. I find myself getting sick frequently and taking longer to process an illness. A cold might happen once-a-month, and its duration may last 2 weeks, even with a healthy vegetarian diet and vitamin intake.
My appearance has improved, and my energy level remains relatively high and consistent. My skin seems to "glow", and I feel "cleaner", so to speak.
Mentally, I still have bouts of depression, but the episodes have been fractionalized since undertaking my new diet. All senses-- especially taste, sight, and smell-- have improved. I carry a sense of accomplishment when I consider the diet's many environmental and "moral" benefits.
Budget-wise, it's generally cheaper, but items like vegetarian protein are 1.5x more expensive than regular meat. Getting enough fruits and vegetables to substitute for the typical meat-consuming diet will prove costly.
I'm personally very happy with it. As mentioned above, there are negatives, but I like to think that the pros outweigh the cons. I'll review my diet again in another 6 months...
