My burning head!

Hi...

I'm 26. I am currently receeding only on the left side of my head. I am currently using proscar and have been for 6 months and have just stopped using minoxidil after a period of 6 months (2 liquid 4 foam).

My scalp EXACTLY where i was placing the minoxidil has been seriously burning since I quit about 1-2 weeks ago. I stopped minoxidil due to the fact that it was causing irriation and it was causing the vein on my left temple to throb so hard I thought it was gonna burst. And i kept receeding with no sign of recovery.

Is it possible that this burning will subside on its own. I know about inflammation and have used nizoral for about 2 months 1/2 a week but nothing helps. It burns most of the day but when I'm kept really busy, or playing football it subsides....

Also where it is burning I'm losing hair. Fast.

Any help??

Please??

Sorry I don't have any good advice but the bold part sounds REALLY familiar. That's exactly what happens to me, I don't know why the pain goes away with sweating but it does. Don't use Nizoral if it doesn't help, the stuff is pretty powerful. nizoral made my scalp pain even worse. So the minoxidil didn't help your hair at all?

Not one little bit I'm afraid.

Was really excited when i started using it cause i thought at least I'd keep what hair I have.

Wrong....

In the 6 months I saw absolutly nothing in the terms of progress, only further receeding at my left side of my temple. When I got the foam I started to apply it further across my hairline, right up to the middle and guess what?? I've had recession there with no sign whatsoever of any hairs lost being replaced. From the middle to right side no loss at all.

Surely can't just be a coincedence? And I know all about the shedding however there ain't no way hair is gonna come back from where it was lost. No evidence at all of anything happening not even a tiny wee hair or two.

Gutted. :shakehead:

Really struggling to conceal the loss now. If only I could've kept what I had when I started in March cause it really wasn't that bad! It is now!

Always holding out hope that the finasteride will kick in the next few months and the lost hair will be recovered! Always the optimist!!!

C'est la vie!!!

Man, if you still have this intense burning sensation then I recommend going to a derm as this might be unrelated to male pattern baldness. I'm not an expert in 'non male pattern baldness' issues that cause hairloss but you might be better off seeking the help of a doctor who can better diagnose this thing.

Exercising definately helps, after a good workout the scalp pain/itch always dissapears for quite sometime. Makes me think that exercise is good for the hair. Maybe it's the increased sweating or bloodflow.

Yeah there must be something to it. I wish I could be sweating all the time. Maybe our heads are over sensitive to any kind of shampoos?

It probably does not burn because while you play football, you're not thinking consciously about it. Sort of like when you stub your toe and jump up and down, it really doesn't hurt as bad.

No that's not it, because the pain stays away for several hours after the exercise. Usually it stays away until I take a shower again and wash away the sweat and stuff.
