I have been taking Fincar for almost 7 months with only a worse hairline to show for it. This is frustrating and depressing becuase i atleast expected to maintain and stop shedding. I have been reading round the forums and seen that some people have had success when moving over from fincar(generic) to proscar. I just hope this is the case for me aswell.

Leave your thoughts on genrics

thankyou

Fincar from inhouse or united has worked well for me. Never heard of anyone getting
different results after switching since the active ingredient is the same that is what
I would assume.

I think that results fall into these categories

1. do not respond at all
2. do not respond at all and get sides
3. do not respond at all and get severe sides
4. respond some what
5. respond some what and get sides
6. respond some what and severe sides
7. respond great
8. respond great and get sides
9. respond great and get severe sides

The following people probably decide finasteride is not for them: 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 and maybe 5

4's, 7's and 8's stick it out and maybe even some 9's.

I happen to be a 7... lucky number I guess.

I was on Proscar for at least a year, maybe two, I don't remember, from my doctor. Then I switched to dutasteride for 6 months. I don't think I lost any hair, though I was really worried about switching to a generic and a different drug. I've been on fincar for 2 years now. From what I can tell, I have not lost any hair. When I shaved my head once, I saw my crown is thinning. It is not noticable once it is 1/2 inch long. I don't know if that is recent, or if I just never looked there before since I never shaved my head before except in the military, and did not have two mirrors back then.

I wonder if my hairloss would have just been very slow, or if the fact I did not get a huge shed after getting off proscar proves the generics are real. Well, my hair is fine, though after plenty of time to inpect at different lengths, I now know exactly where the thin spots are. Hopefully Nizoral 2% fixes them since I am too lazy for topicals.
