Mother's Female Pattern Baldness

I've recently noticed in the last 4-5 months when my mom came back from her trip. She's been shedding insane amounts of hair. I notice her hair on the ground, in the kitchen counter tops, tables ect. It's quite scary actually. My father also mentioned her hair loss as well before she came back. I can also see her scalp from the back of her head, as well as some thinning forming the characteristic "FPB Line" down the middle.

My mother's sisters all have a lot of hair, it seems that she is the only one of her 5 sisters that seems to have FPB, or at least what I consider it to be "FPB".

With my mother's FPB, along with my fathers Norwood 5A, would this combined power by any chance make my male pattern baldness any worse?

Well the male pattern baldness on my father's side is pretty severe, all uncles on this side range from Norwood 4 - Norwood 5.

I'm not sure about my maternal grandfather, as he passed away before I was born. My mother's side of the family are female dominated except for 1 uncle. He's about a Norwood 4 as well. All my aunts have lots of hair except for my mom.

With women it could be hormonal. Don't know how old your mom is but she could be going through that time when estrogen levels drop significantly. I know from experience when talking to a couple women who are losing hair, even if it just looks a little diffuse it's crushing to their self esteem. They may hide it but if they open up and talk about it they will tell you they cry themselves to sleep after seeing all the hair in the shower, so be kind and supportive to your mom about it.

As far as if it will affect you who knows. Maybe, maybe not as with women it's different. Look at the males on both your dads and moms side, do they have hair loss? If so, you are probably in for a battle. Everyone on my dad and moms side have some sort of hair loss. My brother though was some how spared, he has a perfect head of hair lucky mf'er LOL :turned:

My mother is in her mid 60's. So that cannot be hormonal, can it? My mom doesn't seem to be bothered about the hair loss at all, as I've told her myself..

Yeah all the men on both sides of my family have got hair loss. Especially the ones in my father's side. It is terrifying.
