Morning erections: O, where art thou?

Hiya guys,

A quick question to you all: How many you on finasteride have noticed a decrease in morning wood?

Before finasteride, I used to pitch a tent every morning (and every few hours thereafter), but on the almost five years that I've been on finasteride, I have noticed that I do not get morning wood. When I am in the sack with a girl, I do get it, but I never get it alone anymore.

I understand clearly this is a secondary effect of treatment with finasteride, so please don't bother with the flaming. This poll is simply for my own edification. It's just a quick head count -- which of you still get 'em and which of you don't?

That is in fact the only side effect I am aware of since I have started finasteride.

Coming up to a year and have hardly "pitched a tent" in the morning since I have been on the treatment. :bawling:

The same thing happened to me using Saw Palm/Beta-Sis. Plus myu libido went down a bit, too.

I haven't noticed any decrease in ability to get an erection over the course of 4.7 yrs on finasteride. But now that I think about it, I do think I have fewer morning erections than before. However, I've been on finasteride for a long time, and I've gotten older during that time. Perhaps my reduction in morning erections is due to finasteride. Then again, maybe it's due to the fact that I'm 26 now, not 21 (as I was when I started). After all, my random, unanticipated erections have been decreasing in frequency since I was 17. Who knows? The important thing for me is that I can get it hard when I want to, no problem. Whatever sexual side effects I may have experienced, they were so minor that I've never really noticed them. But I'm not trying to discount the experiences of those who have had sexual side effects, either!

ALTHOUGH some mornings I get it really really really bad :-S and my tent doesn't get folded up for at least an hour later.

as for girls, I agree, when it comes to the shove I can easily get it up. Though not as hard as before

Yeah I get less morning wood but I still get it sometimes, it just sucks when you have to pee, it is essential to master the 45 degree angle.

I've been on 1.25mg finasteride for almost 10 months (I'm 27). I rubbed one out this morning. And yesterday evening. And yesterday morning .....

Finasteride doesn't seem to be a match for my libido (knock on wood).

Same thing here after less than two weeks on the stuff, no morning erections and seriously decreased libido which kinda freaks me out. Fortunately still able to get an erection otherwise and don't notice much change in the hardness of that, but if that would still come I'm calling it quits. The loss of morning erections freaks me out A LOT.

Oh, and by the way, I'd like to know whether those who had the same and stopped taking it, noticed a return to normal. There is this website propeciasideeffects.com or something like that of guys who even went impotent and who claim it didn't go away when stopping contrary to the claims of Merck. Their figure of those who have sexual sides is if you ask me a bit of disinformation.

When taking 1 mg a day, were morning erections almost completely gone, a hell of a lot less or somewhat down (subjective)? Just curious.

I cant necessarily blame it on the finasteride 1MG. I havent been working out and im under alot of stress with work and also tired- working 12 to 16 hour days etc... But they ( erections ) were less frequent when I was on 1 mg

My girl claims it was the Propecia, i think it may have been a combination of both / all of thee above. But things are calming down a bit. Plus Im getting older .

Im def attracted to her shes a hott spanish girl with a sex drive of a rabbit.

So who knows I didnt wig out about it like half these cats on here.

If you experience any loss in sex drive look at your lifestyle , diet, work , personal agendas these all could be factors as well. Another possibility is to tone down your dosage. I did all thee above and rocking the bed which im sure my neighbors can hear quit well.

Especially if you just woke up and realized that you're late, and every second is worth its weight (err, if it had any) in gold.

Was on Propecia for over a year. It may have helped slow down my loss but I was still losing hair, no doubt about it.

I also started to get puffiness around my nipples after a few months but it wasnt until close to a year of use that I started to notice my libido crash. I didnt think nothing of it until I started seeing my current girlfriend and we got sexual. I swear, I couldnt get a hard on to save my life. That was at its worst. If I did get a "boner" it was weak and it didnt stick around for long. This continued for a few weeks and it was embaressing as all hell.

I figured, f*** it. If my hair is still falling out and Im growing tits and cant even get a hard on for my woman, Propecia wasnt worth it. It took several months untill I noticed a drastic change in my sexual experiences, for the better. Erections got harder, stayed longer. It wasnt till a few months ago that I started feeling "normal" and back to my old self.

Im not here to scare anyone away from the drug but I heard about guys claiming that they thought their wee wee shrunk from Proecia use before i even new it was a potential side effect and it was on body building sites, so I doubt anyone there had alterior motives.

Propecia may still work great for you with no sides but I definatly noticed the sides enough to have to discontinue its use.
