I am not the one who said it, and he was just joking. Protecting your family from words by using physical violence is just immature and barbaric. If someone physically attacks your family then you have a right to physically defend them. Otherwise, civilized people practice restraint and do not escalate a battle of words into a battle that can kill.

why do you feel the need to respond with violence if someone talks bad about your family? what does that solve?

OP, nothing to worry about bro. maybe your mom shouldn't be criticizing minor things about your appearance that you can't control, unless it is out of genuine concern.
