Minoxidil Variants and Usage - Tips and Tricks

Just thought I'd share the different variations of Minoxidil I'm using . . .

1. I use Dr. Lee's cheapy 5%. It's great. Clean, fast drying. You can swab on 1.25 ml, and 10 minutes later, no-one's the wiser.

2. I added (4) 1000 mg tabs MSM and (2) 500 mg tabs of L-arginine to a bottle of Dr. Lee's stuff, which was a mistake. The MSM and L-arg didn't dissolve so great - leaving my hair w/ a sticky residue. I'll use the bottle up - but won't try adding anything to Lee's 5% ever again.

3. I use the standard, classic Ozbrew formula maybe 3 - 4 x per week w/ Rite-Aid brand minoxidil. I find that right out of the shower is the best time. It combs out pretty good by the time I arrive at work. Sometimes after work, if I know I don't have to go out anywhere, I'll apply the oz to a dry scalp - but the hair never really comes back after that and looks pretty crappy for the rest of the evening.

4. Xandrox15: I've resorted to only being able to find time for this product maybe 2 - 3 x per week. It's best suited as a before bed application - but that's when I'm using Revivogen or Folligen.

What I do though - on weekend mornings, or mornings when I don't have to rush out to work - I apply xandrox15 and don't shampoo it out for at least 90 minutes. It's mostly soaked in by then - and even Dr. Lee has recommended this method - he said keeping it on for at least 1 hour before shampooing is also reasonable.

For example - this morning I woke up 1 full hour before my alarm went off (this friggin' time change has my bio clock all screwed). So, 4:45 AM I was soaking my head in xandrox15 and showering at 6:15 AM.

I generally use some sort of minoxidil at least 2 x per day.

On the days I use xandrox15, I don't use Ozbrew - and vice-versa.

Anyway, for what it's worth . . . .

Have great weekends y'all.

Friend - you'll never know until you try.

Like just about every treatment and every person out there - everyone seems to react differently to everything.

I don't see where minoxidil is helping me that much. Maybe it is more than I realize. But we really don't have all that many options do we?

Go for it.

Do the 5% for 6 months - and then you can crank it up to xandrox15 if you think you need a little more of a push. Good luck!

5% twice a day gives me heart angina although once a day is O.K . Being limited to one app a day I had to come up with a minoxidil that rocked. I think minoxidil's ppg offers just as much potential than the minoxidil itself because its a means for us experimenters to try improvements and indeed there is plenty of room for improvement on minoxidil. I'm not to impressed with the additives the docs are adding because they are basicly skin health oriented and have no real punch against hair loss. Lipoxidil being an exception. I'm looking into cell metabolism and growth stimulants as additives. Currently I have min/atp/magnesium/melatonin mixed and its been great so far since two weeks.
