History - 39 year old male. Full head of hair (until minoxidil!) - around 37 noted how thin it is up front (temples - can see scalp) but didn't act on it. One and a half months ago, its much thinner up front now, I needed to do something - so....
Started rubbing in the minoxidil 5 percent. Yesterday - boom - all gone - in clumps - 2 inches off my front hair line. Gone (Not even prepared for that - otherwise I would have grown my top out to cover up the front!). Today I got a prescription for finasteride and took my first pill. Going to continue the minoxidil.
I have three questions please:
1. You know, my urine stream weakened a few months back - after I pee, i end up wetting myself on the walk out of the bathroom (you know no shake like wet even though I shaked...) Around that time my thinning started. So to confirm - most likely DHT related (enlarged prostate) and finasteride is the right direction? I havent asked my Doctor he just wrote the prescription...
2. Hair gone up front (two inches entire hair line), but theres some fuzz / small hairs left / sprouting in - I'm guessing thats a good sign? I can wear a hat until it grows in!
3. This is my biggest concern - any help is appreciated - minoxidil caused the shed up front, which was weak hair anyway. I accept that. But now, im concerned that as I rub that into my front (on my decimated hair line) twice a day, its going to bleed furthur back, causing the next 'front' / more hair to shed, and back, and back, and back. Is there a test to tell me what vellus (i think thats what its called) hair is so I'm not knocking out everything? Also, today was my first day on finasteride - will that attack my other hair too? I realize I can't pick and choose what hair stays and goes, but I think my other hair is thick, but for all I know minoxidil and finasteride says its not and then wham - gone. Hat 24/7.
