I started off using just minoxidil and have had good results on it so far (4 months in, my pics are in the Story section) but after reading up on a lot of different medication, i might have gone a bit mad...

I bought some Retin-A cream from an online pharmacy which apparently aids in growing hair by increasing the hair follicle size (apparently its done by shedding of the top layer of skin). I added a pea size amount of Retin-A cream to a bottle of minoxil and labelled it "evening". The morning dose is just normal 5% minoxidil. I'm also using 2% nizoral every 3-4 days. When my finasteride arrives in a week or so I'll use my newly aquired pill cutter (great item, it cuts it neatly and also has a compartment to store the cut pills in!!) I've actually bought a generic propecia not knowing that i could have got some generic proscar and split it 5 ways...I'll do that next time. However, instead of going overkill I think i'll do 0.5mg daily doses to decrease the chance of side effects.

Has anyone had any success with such a formula?
And is it a good idea to mix a bit of retin-a cream in a minoxidil bottle?
Thirdly, should i do 0.5mg finasteride a day or 1mg every other day? I've heard that it blocks DHT for several days?
Am I doing a bit of an overkill?

And thanks for a great site and fantastic supportive community!!!

Seems like a very solid regimen to me. My only concern is the harshness of it, but other than that I see no reason whatsoever why you won't have very good results.

If you get irritation systematically drop one these products, one at a time to weed out your problem, they aren't critical, but VERY helpful, the nizoral 2% and the retin-a.

No, do not add the Retin-A to the Minoxidil.

Your going to do fine.
