hi there, first time poster here.
my situation is the following: 22 year old NW3v, recently shaved my head to see what it looks like, and it made me look really really bald. so i begun growing my hair again. i have been on minoxidil now for about 2 months, using 5% twice a day.
however, my hair seems to be thinning more and more with every day. there are small fluffy hairs but they were there even before the minoxidil. i heard about the minoxidil shed, but i also heard alot of people say minoxidil can make things worse, and cause irreversible damage.
so im obviously terrified and in a big dilemma.
do i sit trough the shedding phase hoping in 1-2 months things start getting better, and risk potentially losing alot of hair to the minoxidil if the shedding never stops ?
or do i quit the treatment right now and just wait for proscar order to arrive?
the thing with minoxidil, for me, is that it irritates my scalp really badly, and when i scratch i can peel off big flakes of thick skin, with tiny fluffy incrusted in them.
so yeah imagine the horror of scratching off skin with hairs at the same time from the areas most affected by your hair loss... feels bad man.
is that irritation a good sign? a bad sign? will i grow back what im losing due to the scalp irritation? im really a total newbie when it comes to hairloss treatments,
and would appreciate any input from experienced users.
my hope is to regrow some hair with minoxidil+finasteride, to the point where i can atleast somewhat decently conceal my hair loss, wich i effectively could 1 year ago. im still pretty young, does that increase chances of regrowth? on the other hand being NW3 with 22 years means the hairloss is quite aggressive and progressive, right?
